Chapter 41
Ji Ming’s Perspective (Part 4)
I finally revealed my true self in front of her.
I’m truly lucky, I’m so happy.
I went with her to Hainan for the New Year, but she asked me not to mention it to my parents for now.
I understand her concerns, so I must address them.
I am working tirelessly to manage Ji Group’s business, aiming to make Ji Group strong enough not to rely on marriage alliances for growth.
I want Ji Group to become powerful enough, powerful enough not to sacrifice anyone.
However, my parents eventually found out.
Without my knowledge, they conspired with the company’s employees, setting up a scheme to send her to a client.
When I received her text message, those casual words made my heart sink.
After pressing the accompanying employees for answers, I was so frightened that I jumped into a car and had the driver head back to Beijing.
Fortunately, the nearby city wasn’t far from the hotel, and I was still in time.
The crying face emoji she sent became increasingly terrifying the more I looked at it.
She was so naive, thinking it was just a regular work arrangement.
Seeing her safe and sound, at that moment, I felt truly fortunate.
Yet, immediately after, a flood of guilt overwhelmed me–how could I be so careless!
I didn’t dare touch her, how could anyone else!
I knew it was my parents’ doing.
I always knew they were cold and heartless, but I didn’t expect them to be so ruthless to their own daughter, treating her like a tool without any mercy.
When Dad found me, he directly confronted me.
He called me despicable and made me kneel.
I knelt and retorted, calling him shameless for selling his daughter for glory.
He was furious, hit me, saying he would beat me until I repented.
I let him hit me, saying I did nothing wrong and had no need to repent.
After all, he’s halfway to the grave, and after a while, he got tired.
He threatened me with his blood pressure medication, and I promised I would earn back the loss this time, so he let go and took the medicine.
When I went back to find her, she was watching a variety show, laughing so hard on the couch that she couldn’t catch her breath.
Thankfully, she wasn’t affected by this incident.
When she saw me return, her smile immediately stopped, looking a bit guilty, she quickly tugged at my clothes.
“Ah, just got back and… so eager?”
She punched me again: “What are you thinking? I’m putting medicine on you!”
She applied the medicine for me, and suddenly, the beating felt worth it.
