Chapter 28
On the day of farewell, I went to Ji Group, to Ji Ming’s office, to thank him in person.
“Mr. Ji, I’ve come to express my gratitude to you and your parents for raising me all these years. Now that I’ve found my biological parents, I won’t trouble you anymore.” I bowed deeply to him.
He remained silent, his Adam’s apple moving slightly.
I took out an envelope and placed it on his desk. “Inside is a check for two million. I’m returning it to its rightful owner.”
I had converted the two million given to me by Zhou Yuming into a check and handed it to Ji Ming.
“Take it and use it; I don’t need it.” He returned to his usual cold demeanor.
“Please accept it, consider it the money the Ji Family spent on me over the years.”
“I said, I don’t need it.”
“I won’t use money from an enemy’s family.” I lifted my head, speaking in a tone that brooked no argument.
He paused, his gaze fixed on the envelope on the desk, not moving away for a long time.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving.”
With that, I prepared to push the door open and leave.
Ji Ming remained seated, motionless.
The sunset streamed in from the window, casting a faint glow on his black hair.
Amidst the interplay of light and shadow, I felt a hint of loneliness.
That was my last impression of Ji Ming.
