Chapter 16
Duan Yutang is the most pathological person I have ever met in my twenty-something years of life.
No one else comes close.
She could die for Chen Sui, and she could also risk Chen Sui’s life just to stay by his side.
Back then, there was a sudden fire in Chen Sui’s study, and coincidentally, the door to the study was broken. Both Chen Sui and Duan Yutang, who was visiting, were trapped inside.
As the fire grew, Chen Sui kept smashing the door lock with a golf club, not noticing the danger behind him.
The burning bookshelf was on the verge of collapse.
At the moment it toppled toward Chen Sui, it was Duan Yutang who pushed him out of the way, failing to escape herself and suffering severe burns on her back.
At the time, everyone was focused on the injuries of Chen Sui and Duan Yutang. When asked about the cause of the fire, Duan Yutang only said that a lighter had exploded and ignited something.
But no one thought about one question, and it was only recently that Chen Sui realized he had overlooked this crucial point.
Why would there be a lighter in a thirteen-year-old boy’s study?
Chen Sui hadn’t learned to smoke that early.
Everyone just assumed it was accidentally brought in by the cleaning staff.
No one suspected that Duan Yutang was actually the instigator.
After all, she was only twelve at the time.
The whole incident doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.
Neither does Duan Yutang.
Especially when facing Chen Sui.
Nine years have passed, making it difficult to find any evidence.
So, Chen Sui chose to ask Duan Yutang directly.
At first, she stubbornly refused to admit anything.
Chen Sui didn’t press further. Instead, he took her to the cinema.
He booked out the whole theater to watch a movie with her.
Duan Yutang thought Chen Sui believed her, so she happily went along.
Halfway through the movie, Chen Sui suddenly told her,
“The first time Qiao Xi and I kissed was in this theater, in this very seat.”
Duan Yutang froze instantly.
“I was the one who stole a kiss from her,” Chen Sui said.
“I don’t want to hear this!” Duan Yutang suppressed her anger.
Chen Sui ignored her and continued speaking.
“At the time, I was just looking at her profile, and the more I looked, the cuter she seemed. I couldn’t help but kiss her.”
He sounded as if he was sharing a story with Duan Yutang.
“You know, I just kissed her on the cheek, and she blushed like a peach. Later…”
“I said I don’t want to hear it!”
Duan Yutang stood up, her shout echoing through the entire theater.
Hearing Chen Sui say this, I completely agreed with his decision to book out the theater.
Because a madwoman can lose her mind anytime, anywhere.
“Tell me, what do you like about her! Chen Sui, we’ve known each other for over ten years. We’re childhood friends!”
Chen Sui still lounged lazily in his seat, letting her break down.
“I never almost killed my childhood friend.”
Duan Yutang was at her breaking point, raising her voice in protest.
“I never wanted to kill you! You were about to transfer schools-I just wanted you to stay with me! Back then, I put Uncle Chen’s climbing rope in the corner, and the window was open too. If the door really couldn’t be opened, I would have given it to you. I made sure everything was safe.”
Her eyes were bloodshot.
“I would rather die than let you die, do you understand, Chen Sui!”
