Chapter 5
The car started.
In the interval between the countdown whistles.
It was noisy outside.
Inside the car, it was very quiet.
Only the sound of our breathing could be heard.
The bullet screen was frantically trying to stop me.
[Is the female lead crazy? The car’s about to crash, and instead of talking him down, you get in too?]
[Isn’t it obvious, upstairs? The older brother has PTSD, you can’t talk him out of it, might as well go crazy together.]
Ji Yuxuan’s breathing was heavy, but his voice was soft.
“Why did you suddenly stop liking Qin Siyuan? Are you two putting on a show for me?”
He asked.
He didn’t intend to wait for my answer.
He stomped on the accelerator.
The car shot forward.
I cried out in alarm.
Ji Yuxuan instinctively eased off the gas.
I was in the car.
He had scruples; he didn’t dare drive too fast.
Soon, we fell behind by quite a bit.
The final half lap.
He suddenly sped up.
Taking a sharp turn.
The brakes failed.
No matter how hard he stomped, the speed didn’t drop.
I kept a close eye on the outside.
Sure enough, a figure appeared in my field of vision.
I grabbed the steering wheel and yanked it hard in the opposite direction.
The car was about to crash into the outer guardrail.
At the critical moment.
Ji Yuxuan unfastened his own seatbelt.
Turned sideways and wrapped his arms around me.
The airbag deployed.
“Screech–”
I heard the sound of bones breaking.
My head hit the car window.
My whole body felt heavy and dizzy.
In a blur, I saw Ji Yuxuan’s face.
Blood was streaming down his forehead.
He struggled to sit up, gently patting my cheek.
“Yutong! Yutong! Don’t be afraid, your brother is here.”
“Ge…” Scalding tears, mixed with both our blood, streamed down and splashed onto the back of my hand.
“Yutong really knows she was wrong… Can you forgive me like you did when we were young? Just this once… just once…”
