Igniting the Spark - Chapter 28
I was led to the Star Abyss Pavilion within the Imperial City.
This was the tallest building in the entire Imperial City.
If you stood at the edge of the top floor of the Star Abyss Pavilion, you could overlook the whole Capital City.
After the Palace Attendants signaled for me to go up, they retreated to a distance.
I took a deep breath and walked up.
Pei Yi was standing by the wall, dressed in bright yellow.
He didn’t turn around, and I didn’t bow.
I walked over and stood beside him.
He was very happy. Turning to look at me, his eyes were filled with starlight.
“Good, I was really afraid that after all this, you would be afraid of me.”
I pressed my lips together. “I am a little afraid.”
Pei Yi smiled. “I didn’t mean to hide it from you back then. If I had told you I was a prince, would you still have taught me all those things?”
Thinking of how we used to pass blueprints to each other like secret agents, I couldn’t help but smile too.
He took a step closer to me.
“Do you remember what I once asked you-what would a flourishing age look like?”
That was just after the New Year this year, the day we secretly drank at Benevolent Manor.
The baijiu was really strong. By the end, the only ones still sober at the table were Pei Yi and me, who hadn’t drunk.
He casually asked me, “Little girl, if all these things you talk about are made, will we really see a flourishing age?”
Looking at his half-drunken state, I relaxed a little too, and half-jokingly began to describe the world as I remembered it from my previous life.
I thought he was drunk, but I didn’t expect him to remember it until now.
Pei Yi no longer looked at me, but gazed into the distance.
I followed his gaze.
All things under heaven lay at our feet.
“Not yet, but very soon, we will see it,” he said calmly, facing the wind.
At that moment, I truly felt that he had become an emperor.
“I, and my descendants, will strive for the scene you described.”
“Are you willing to stay, and stand by my side to witness it together?”
