I Divorced Him Quietly, Then He Went Crazy - Chapter 7
Before long, the news of my divorce from Jeremy spread.
I heard that on our third anniversary, his group of friends, carrying gifts, rang Jeremy’s doorbell.
They expected a warm scene they had discussed in advance.
Instead, there was nothing.
Only Jeremy, wearing pajamas, with a blank expression.
Someone awkwardly spoke: “Jeremy, didn’t you tell us before? That you were going to surprise Charlotte?”
Jeremy looked at the people outside the door, and after a long moment, he pulled at the corners of his lips: “Oh, I forgot.”
“You all go back, we’re not celebrating.”
Someone subconsciously asked, “Huh? Why?”
Jeremy’s hand rested on the doorknob.
Remembering something, his eyes chilled, and he said, “Why else? We’re divorced.”
With that, everyone knew that Jeremy and I were truly over.
But Jeremy didn’t say anything more.
Unable to get anything out of him, they turned to me.
Their tone was sympathetic, yet still carried that air of superiority.
I didn’t reply.
I pretended not to see them.
Then I deleted their contact information.
Including Evelyn Tan’s.
From now on, whatever happened between them had nothing to do with me.
Jeremy and I were originally from two different worlds.
At this moment, I felt somewhat fortunate.
Over the years, aside from the large sum of money Jeremy gave me when we married, the Zhou and Chu families had no other entanglements.
At the end of this month, I went on a business trip and saw Jeremy at the airport lobby.
He was there to pick someone up.
Across the crowd, across three years, I finally saw Evelyn Tan.
They stood together, truly a perfect pair.
I stood there stunned for a moment.
Just then, my name came over the loudspeaker.
It was time to board.
As I turned, I saw Jeremy abruptly stop.
He looked around, and after a while, he pulled his gaze back.
When the plane landed, I opened my phone and saw a message.
It was from Jeremy.
He asked: “It was you, wasn’t it?”
