I Divorced Him Quietly, Then He Went Crazy - Chapter 18
Jeremy’s Side Story: A Different Moonlight Night
After Jeremy and Evelyn Tan broke up, he breathed a huge sigh of relief.
He had always viewed love as something insignificant.
He thought there was nothing special about it.
Why would it be worth sleepless nights, tears, and laughter?
But when he actually tried to be with Evelyn Tan, he had only one thought in his mind: awkwardness.
Later, he heard she got married.
Evelyn Tan was very beautiful, with skin as white as porcelain, standing delicately beside him, her eyes full of laughter.
Anyone would praise them as a perfect match.
“Not really.”
He thought Evelyn Tan was ill, and he also felt he had failed a good girl’s heart.
Perhaps, from the beginning, he shouldn’t have been with her.
During that time, to be honest, he was quite troubled.
Until he met Charlotte.
She was different from any girl he had met before.
She had a stubborn personality and was very serious about everything she did.
After he mentioned the shirt that had been soaked with hangover soup, the next time they met, she bought several similar styles, looking at him a little shyly: “I kind of forgot what that one looked like, so I bought a few more. What do you think?”
In that moment, Jeremy smiled.
It was strange; every time he saw her, he wanted to smile.
At that time, he thought that dating, or even marrying, if it was with this girl, might not be a bad thing.
Later, everything went as he had expected.
They would still have a long future together.
Until the news of Evelyn Tan’s car accident arrived.
It wasn’t that serious, actually.
But out of lingering guilt from before, he still went.
And because of it, he forgot Charlotte was waiting for him.
Many years later, that became his biggest regret.
But at the time, he hadn’t thought so much.
He returned home as usual, saw her, and wanted to explain.
But she seemed to no longer want to listen; she said she wanted a divorce, she said she was tired of it.
Hearing her words, he felt his heart being torn apart, a sharp pain.
How could she be tired of it?
After she left, he secretly went to find her many times.
Round-trip tickets piled thick on his desk.
He wasn’t a fool, but in these matters, he was surprisingly clumsy.
In the spring of the second year after she left, Evelyn Tan got married and confessed to him that she had actually added Charlotte on social media.
It was then that Jeremy suddenly understood everything, as if a light bulb had gone off.
It wasn’t about being tired; she had simply given up on him.
There are no secrets in the world, and neglecting her was his fault.
Many nights, he wanted to rush to her, to explain everything properly.
But he always lacked a little courage.
It’s quite surprising, isn’t it?
He thought he was omnipotent.
But in the end, he turned out to be a coward.
However, fortunately, there was still a long future ahead, and he could take his time.
