Chapter 13
“Is this a story, or is it your secret?”
Zhou Ye’s breathing grew rapid. I leaned against his back, feeling the faint tremor running through his spine.
“Granny Zhang, well, she’s my mom’s aunt. I borrowed her image for the story earlier. This kind of technique is pretty common in storytelling, you know? Think about it-if it were really her, the age wouldn’t match after fifteen years, right?”
Just then, his secretary sent over some investigative information.
Quick as lightning, I snatched his phone away, ignoring Zhou Ye’s attempts to stop me.
I read the text aloud, my voice ringing with triumph:
“President Zhou, your wife’s parents are both still alive. Fifteen years ago, her father was the Factory Director at the state-owned cotton factory. Didn’t they attend the engagement party? Do you remember?”
“An Rui, give me back my phone!”
Seeing Zhou Ye’s face turn ashen with fury, I couldn’t help but laugh gleefully.
“Darling, this story is based on a true event from my dad’s factory. The title is ‘Desire.’ It’s a reminder that men who can’t control their desires will eventually burn themselves. Don’t you think so?”
Zhou Ye finally realized-I was angry.
But I’m not like other women.
The angrier I get, the happier I laugh.
“Zhou Ye, you seduced my best friend on our wedding night, and I can’t even be mad about it?”
