Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Half an hour later, Fu Jin was hauling me out of the bar.
I was babbling incoherently. “You’re more handsome than my fiancé, you know that? If things don’t work out between us, do you want to consider being my live-in husband?”
“Brother-” Fu Jin tossed me into the back seat of a Rolls-Royce like I was a hot potato.
I slumped limply against someone. A broad hand steadily supported my waist, and a deep voice rang out: “How much did she drink?”
“Not much, just half a bottle,” I answered vaguely. I propped myself up against his thigh and sat in his lap, squinting at him for a long time.
He was a man with a cold, stern face. Even the light drizzle couldn’t mask the noble yet sharp aura between his brows.
Just my type.
I leaned against him weakly and mumbled, “Sure, you’ll do too. Why don’t both of you come along?”
He covered my mouth, his gaze turning cold as he looked out the window. “Half a bottle of beer got her this drunk?”
Fu Jin’s face fell. “Vodka. A bottle mixed like a jungle juice… Brother, I swear I didn’t seduce my sister-in-law this time. She was the one who came onto me.”
Actually, you couldn’t really blame me.
The Fu Family genes were consistent across the board; both brothers’ looks hit my aesthetic preferences perfectly.
Fu Jin and I were close in age; he was my junior in college.
Back then, I had flirted with him.
However, he was too shy, so nothing ever came of it.
I have a bad memory. I flirted with him in my freshman year, then met him again in my senior year. He looked familiar, so I flirted with him again.
And it happened right in front of Fu Jin’s guardian.
That day, his guardian was Fu Jing…
The rain outside showed signs of intensifying.
My eyes were half-closed as I leaned against Fu Jing’s shoulder, muttering nonsense that no one could understand.
Because he was out at a bar late at night, Fu Jin was being escorted home by Fu Jing’s men.
I leaned in close and grabbed Fu Jing’s tie. “Brother, want to get married?”
The quiet murmur, laced with the scent of alcohol, drifted into Fu Jing’s ear.
His Adam’s apple bobbed. His eyes, usually as still as an ancient well, grew darker. “Jiang Qian, do you know who you’re talking to?”
Seeing that I didn’t answer, he hooked his knuckles under my chin and tilted it up slightly, forcing me to meet his eyes.
“I am Fu Jing, not Fu Jin.”
Dressed in a black suit with a cold expression, his every movement stirred a sense of restlessness within me.
I began to fidget, squirming around until my skirt had bunched up around my waist.
Fu Jing’s index finger pressed a button, and the black car window rolled up slowly, blocking out the noise from outside.
I propped myself up against Fu Jing’s thigh, lifting half my body. I placed my index finger against his cool lips.
“Shh… be good. Let’s not mention that jinx tonight.”
Fu Jing let out a sharp, frustrated laugh. “A jinx?”
Because of my movements, my dress had shifted out of place. The neckline had slipped down, exposing my shoulder.
Fu Jing’s dark gaze started from my neck and gradually slid down toward my exposed thighs.
“Mm… what are you looking at…” I grumbled, trying to cover myself, but I couldn’t manage both the top and the bottom at once.
Seeing me struggle to cover the essentials, he suddenly sighed, took off his suit jacket, and threw it over my head.
I frowned and was about to shake it off when he grabbed my wrist.
“You can flip your hair for Fu Jin, but you can’t wear my jacket?”
His deep voice poured into my ears. His rough thumb rubbed gently against the inside of my wrist, almost like he was flirting…
I whimpered a few times, but he pinned me into the corner with his leg.
Fu Jing’s tone suddenly turned stern. “Don’t move.”
It was raining outside, and the heavy traffic made the journey home feel infinitely long.
The suit jacket still held his warmth, and a faint, long-lasting scent of sandalwood lingered.
Through the gap beneath the suit, I saw a section of Fu Jing’s wrist protruding from his shirt cuff. He was wearing a string of expensive Old Mountain Sandalwood beads.
On a whim, I reached out and touched them.
“Do you like them?”
With his suit jacket over my head, I couldn’t see him. I could only nod blindly like a drunken fool. “I like them.”
He slid them off and placed them on my wrist. “They’re yours.”
I let out a giggle and mumbled, “Good stuff.”
Fu Jing seemed to chuckle as well. “Yes, good stuff.”
