Chapter 3
Chapter 3
At ten o’clock at night, the bar was a whirlwind of sensory indulgence.
I lay in my best friend’s arms, reveling in the decadent atmosphere.
“So, you just ran away like that?”
A few glasses of imported liquor had left me lightheaded and giddy. I leaned in with a grin. “What else was I supposed to do? Wait for him to call off the engagement?”
People are most prone to impulse when they’re angry. I figured I’d wait for the storm to blow over before trying to talk sense into him.
At the very least, I had to save my magazine.
The lights flickered and pulsed. Not far away, a young hottie walked by carrying a glass.
He caught my eye instantly.
As luck would have it, he turned to look at me too. He froze for a moment, then pulled out his phone.
Usually, in a situation like this, it meant he wanted my contact info.
How cute.
“See? I’ve still got it.”
Stepping out in my high heels, I gathered my long hair and swept it over my chest, revealing the seductive lines of my collarbones. I swayed toward him with practiced grace.
“Are you alone, handsome? You look just like a friend of mine. Why don’t we exchange-”
The young man clutched his phone and took a step back, looking like he was on the verge of tears. “Bro, I found her. My sister-in-law is trying to hit on me… again…”
If I had been sober, I would have realized I was currently hitting on Fu Jing’s younger brother-Fu Jin.
And this was far from the first time I’d committed this particular offense.
