Chapter 13
The gasps and heavy breathing came to an abrupt halt.
I dug at my ear, thinking I’d gone deaf.
Zhu Wanwan hurriedly gathered her clothes, shrinking behind Zhou Heng.
Her hands clumsily tried to cover the half-exposed allure of her chest.
Zhou Heng’s face was deathly pale, his back ramrod straight, frozen in place, not moving a muscle.
I glanced at the time, tilted my head, and kindly asked:
“Can’t get up? Need me to call security for you?”
Tears streamed down Zhu Wanwan’s face, her mouth quivered, and she murmured softly, “Darling…”
Zhou Heng seemed to snap awake, frowning as he yanked her up, “You go back first.”
Zhu Wanwan refused, clutching tightly to the hem of his shirt, unwilling to let go.
I clicked my tongue.
Zhou Heng visibly flinched, shoving her away impatiently, “Go!”
“Why so anxious?”
I smiled and spoke, “Miss Zhu, right? How many months now?”
Zhou Heng spun around abruptly to block me, his eyes rimmed red, his voice trembling violently:
“Yanyan, d-don’t ask…”
Zhu Wanwan hid behind his back.
In those wet eyes, there was nothing but blatant pride and excitement.
She seized the moment and said, “Just hit three months yesterday.”
I repeated softly, “Yesterday. Just three months.”
A string in my mind snapped in an instant.
So much for sudden enlightenment.
So much for reflection and guilt.
All of Zhou Heng’s flawless pretense over the past half month-
Was only because she was still in the early stages of pregnancy.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t let me go,
It wasn’t that he wanted to come back to the family,
It was because the child hadn’t settled yet,
Afraid he wouldn’t be able to control himself, he had no choice but to stay away from his lover.
