Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 51
Meng Loudi felt a rare sense of satisfaction as he watched the young man nod in agreement. “So, Chenyi, what do you plan to do after dinner?”
“Uh, not sure,” the young man replied, continuing to eat. He had been interrupted earlier, otherwise he would have finished his meal by now.
“Then come with me after dinner. I’ve got lots of things and fun stuff in my room.”
Meng Loudi extended a dangerous invitation.
“…What?”
“Come on, you don’t have anything else to do, and you can’t leave here anyway, right?” The man’s eyes narrowed, unreadable.
Jiang Chenyi hesitated. If he left, where would he go? Something seemed to be interfering with him. He absolutely couldn’t leave.
Before he could figure out what was happening, Meng Loudi urged, “Hurry up, you’re eating so slowly.”
Jiang Chenyi grumbled internally as he stuffed food into his mouth. He couldn’t curse him out loud, but he definitely muttered to himself.
Whose fault was it anyway?! Constant interruptions and demands to serve food!
After finishing his meal, the man waiting for him grabbed the young man and dragged him out of the dining room.
Being pulled by the collar, half-dragged and half-carried out of the dining room, Jiang Chenyi’s expression twisted.
Once outside, the door closed, and the man released him, catching the young man as he stumbled backward. “Falling into my arms, are you?”
The young man broke free from his embrace, angrily retorting, “No, you!”
His face flushed red, knowing full well that whatever the man left unsaid wasn’t anything good.
Meng Loudi watched the young man’s flushed face, rubbing his chin with amusement. “How cute, I’ve never seen Chenyi angry. Are you mad?”
Hearing this, Jiang’s temper deflated like a balloon, quickly dissipating. “No,” Jiang Chenyi replied, his gaze evasive.
Meng Loudi watched the young man lose his steam, his eyes curving with a smile. Was it because he had no temper, or was it because he couldn’t get angry with him?
“Really not mad? Then come to my room. You definitely can’t sleep in the same bed as Shen Baihe. Sleep with me.”
“Isn’t there another room?” The young man frowned.
The man shrugged. “Probably not. Come on, men shouldn’t dawdle.”
With that, he naturally took the young man’s hand, so naturally that Jiang Chenyi didn’t even react.
When the young man came to his senses, he found himself standing in a lavishly decorated, dimly lit room.
Meng Loudi stood before him, smiling. “How is it? Not bad, right?”
“Very nice. I’ve never seen such a nice house, uh…”
After saying this, Jiang felt something was off. Had he really never seen such a nice house?
Meng Loudi didn’t mind his silence. He pulled out a bunch of things from a nearby shelf and asked, “What do you play? Chess, cards, mahjong, or checkers?”
“Chess,” the young man smiled.
And so, they really started playing.
Meng Loudi and Jiang Chenyi were engrossed in their game until night fell, and the door was knocked.
A woman’s voice came through.
“Young Master Meng, Mr. Jiang, it’s dinner time. Please come down to eat.”
Jiang Chenyi rubbed his neck, feeling a bit sore. “Got it, thanks!”
Meng Loudi looked at the young man, rubbing his chin with an ambiguous expression. “You think, well, never mind.”
The man got up and left gracefully.
The young man’s ears still echoed with his voice. “What? What were you going to say?”
Meng Loudi opened the door, glancing back with a smile. “Nothing.”
The young man shivered under that seductive glance, awkwardly standing up to go downstairs for dinner.
After dinner, Shen Baihe’s face didn’t look good. She seemed to want to say something to Jiang Chenyi.
Meng Loudi casually tugged at the young man’s collar. “Sister, tonight Chenyi will sleep with me. It’s fine, right?”
His eyes gleamed with mischief and darkness.
Shen Baihe hesitated, reluctantly agreeing. “Alright, Chenyi, get along with him.”
After saying this, she turned to Cui Yulou, watching the boy eat slowly. Her eyebrows raised. “Cui Yulou, come to my room later.”
“Y-yes, aunt,” the boy stammered, nodding.
Chen Zhiyan looked at Shen Baihe, setting down his chopsticks calmly. “Madam, the young master’s homework isn’t finished.”
Shen Baihe also set down her chopsticks, elegantly wiping her mouth, her smile not reaching her eyes. “What? How much homework can a five-year-old have? My mother sent you here not to bully our Yulou. Mr. Chen, I invited you to the table, and you really think you’re somebody?”
Her gaze held disdain, looking at the man with contempt. “Don’t forget your place, Yulou, understand?”
The boy trembled, nodding quickly, his face almost buried in his bowl.
Shen Baihe stood, gracefully leaving. “Don’t forget, come over later. Aunt misses Yulou.”
Chen Zhiyan’s hand clenched, but under Ling’er’s watchful eye, he said nothing.
Cui Yulou hurriedly finished his meal, setting down his bowl and chopsticks, whispering, “I’ll go first.”
The man’s large hand pressed down on him, asking, “Young master, when will your father return?”
Cui Yulou glanced at Ling’er, whispering, “Grandmother said they’ll come before the New Year.”
Chen Zhiyan took a deep breath, seemingly holding back something. “That’s still two months away, your parents.”
“It’s okay, sir. I’ll go find aunt now.” The boy broke free from his grip, jumping off the chair and running out.
Chen Zhiyan watched the boy leave, then swept out himself.
The dining table was left with only Jiang Chenyi and Meng Loudi.
The man looked at the woman nearby, waving her away. “I need to have a private conversation with Mr. Jiang, so please leave.”
Ling’er maintained her smile, bowing slightly. “Yes, Young Master Meng.”
She retreated to the kitchen, closing the door.
Jiang Chenyi clutched his chopsticks, feeling a bit tense.
Now they were alone.
What would happen?
Meng Loudi looked at the young man, chuckling softly. “Do you know what Shen Baihe wanted to say earlier?”
“What?”
“She wanted you to go to her room and enjoy some…pleasures.” The man’s voice was sultry and low, sending shivers down one’s spine, yet oddly enticing.
Jiang Chenyi swallowed, not daring to speak.
Meng Loudi leaned closer, asking, “So, do you want to? Want to try some pleasures?”
His cold breath brushed against the young man’s ear, raising goosebumps.
Jiang Chenyi backed away, laughing nervously. “Haha, no, I don’t want to.”
Meng Loudi retreated, smiling. “Good.”
The young man ate his food, unable to resist asking, “Um, what did madam want with Cui Yulou?”
Their earlier conversation left him feeling uneasy.
The man laughed. “Want to know?”
His face held a tempting look, like a predator luring its prey.
But Jiang Chenyi couldn’t refuse.
He really wanted to know what was going on.
The man looked at the dining table, serious. “But I’m not full yet. Feed me, Chenyi. Feed me and I’ll tell you.”
His beautiful lips curved. “Can you?”
The young man stared at him, feeling a wave of frustration. Are you a giant baby? Do you need someone to feed you? Are your hands just for show? If you don’t need them, let someone else have them!
Jiang Chenyi: “…Okay.”
Forced by circumstances, Jiang had no other way to get information.
So, Jiang followed Meng Loudi’s instructions, serving him this and that, carefully feeding him with chopsticks.
When Jiang felt his shoulders couldn’t take it anymore, Meng Loudi finally spoke.
“Stop.”
Jiang Chenyi sighed in relief. “So, can you tell me now, Mr. Meng?”
What did Shen Baihe want with Cui Yulou?
Meng Loudi looked at him, eyes filled with malice, speaking softly. “Originally, that woman wanted to sleep with Chenyi, but I protected Chenyi. So, to vent her anger, she has to, as usual, take it out on that child.”
Jiang Chenyi froze, his chopsticks falling.
“You…what did you say?”
The young man’s expression was dazed, unable to comprehend his words.
The man rested his chin on his hand, the curve of his arm and jaw beautiful, but his pretty face held a terrible expression.
He seemed to pity, yet also seemed to enjoy the show.
“I said it clearly. I saved Chenyi, so Yulou has to bear it.”
Jiang Chenyi’s body began to tremble. He asked incredulously, “You knew what would happen?! Why didn’t you stop Shen Baihe?! You!”
The man grasped his hand, his dark eyes clear and bright, speaking seriously. “What does it matter? Chenyi is the most important, isn’t he? Do others matter? Besides, even if I protect him now, it doesn’t change the facts, does it?”
Jiang Chenyi’s body shook, looking at the man’s face.
It was a very beautiful face, with an expression that seemed sincere, as if what he said was true-that others didn’t matter, only he, Jiang Chenyi, did.
He was grateful for how much the man valued him, but.
Jiang Chenyi shook off his hand, saying, “Why doesn’t it matter? No matter what, once it happens, it has meaning, doesn’t it?”
He ran out, his mind echoing with a thudding sound, as if something was emerging from his brain.
The thudding mixed with his footsteps.
Chaotic.
Left alone in the dining room, Meng Loudi stared at his hand that had been shaken off, still a bit stunned.
He was shaken off.
How heartbreaking, he thought he’d never be treated like that by Chenyi in this lifetime.
Tsk.
But, Chenyi’s eyes just now were really beautiful. His expression was beautiful too, filled with anger, gratitude, and unintentional affection.
He cared about that child too. Should he adopt a few children in the future?
If there were children, Chenyi would be happier.
Meng Loudi held his forehead and laughed softly.
How could that be? He couldn’t possibly accept anyone else invading their life.
