Chapter 4
Ms. Zheng’s return was quite sudden.
Her flight was the next afternoon, and I barely had time to process everything that had happened the previous night before I had to put on a flawless expression to welcome my bestie whom I hadn’t seen in years.
Jiang Ye was different.
Since last night, he had become increasingly reckless.
While I was washing up, he squeezed in behind me, his taller frame easily enveloping me.
“Sis, you smell so nice.”
His hot breath brushed against my shoulder and neck, and before I could rinse away the remaining foam in my mouth, it was forcibly swept into another’s.
“Jiang Ye!”
I pushed him away awkwardly, my hand trembling as I raised it and then lowered it, finally swinging it hard under his arrogant and unrestrained gaze.
“I’ll remind you one last time, I am your godmother!”
Including last night, this was the second time I had hit him.
Before this, even when twelve-year-old Jiang Ye had just returned from abroad, full of hostility and thorns, fighting with classmates at school and ignoring and mocking me at home, I had never once resorted to violence.
Slap.
Jiang Ye turned his head, and a trace of blood quickly seeped from his lower lip.
The facade of my ruthlessness instantly cracked.
“…Does it hurt?”
The hand I reached out was avoided by Jiang Ye.
He stood outside the door with his head lowered, his tall figure filled with gloom and obsession.
In this moment, my helpless weakness erupted.
I held back for a long time before turning my head away, refusing to look at him.
“Ms. Zheng’s flight is tonight. You’re coming with me to pick her up.”
