Chapter 11: Blue Star's First Violet Palace Cultivator

Lin Yang’s body was no longer what it had been when he’d first started cultivating. Having perfected Foundation Establishment and raised his physique above thirty thousand, his digestion had improved considerably too.

He ate fifty Enlightenment Pills, then circulated his true essence to refine their medicinal power rapidly.

【Comprehension increased by 5000 points!】

“It works! I can just digest them as I eat!”

He grabbed more pills and stuffed them into his mouth. Fifty, a hundred, two hundred! After each batch, he circulated his true essence and refined them. The process lasted over two hours. By the time he swallowed the last pill, he felt as though purple energy would escape if he burped.

【Comprehension increased by 100 points!】

【All one thousand epic Enlightenment Pills have been refined!】

【Current comprehension: 103012!】

Over a hundred thousand! The whole world seemed simpler. Techniques that had once looked extraordinarily complex now made sense with a little thought.

He picked up the Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body again. Its complicated routes for circulating blood and qi were suddenly clear.

【You have read Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body!】

【Technique comprehension progress increased by 38.6%!】

He read it again.

【Current comprehension progress: 81.2%!】

He had just finished his third reading when another notification appeared.

【Congratulations! Player has successfully comprehended Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body!】

【Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body added to the skill list!】

“A hundred thousand comprehension really does the trick!”

Next he took out Nine Heavens Lightning Escape, Ten Thousand Swords Returning Array, the Supreme Yin Spirit-Refining Scripture, Splitting Sword Shadows Art, Shadowflow Escape, Great Sun Mountain-Burning Seal, and Azure Emperor Rejuvenation. All were tier-two epic inheritances. An ordinary cultivator would treasure even one as their most important inheritance and devote a lifetime to it.

Lin Yang was different. Only children had to choose. He wanted them all!

In less than an hour, the techniques had all entered his skill list.

【Supreme Yin Spirit-Refining Scripture comprehended!】

【Splitting Sword Shadows Art comprehended!】

【Shadowflow Escape comprehended!】

【Great Sun Mountain-Burning Seal comprehended!】

【Azure Emperor Rejuvenation comprehended!】

…

Lin Yang was delighted with the row of epic techniques added to his skills. Then the system warned him:

【Player is cultivating multiple epic techniques simultaneously!】

【Epic techniques are powerful and require far more resources to cultivate than ordinary techniques!】

【Please act within your means!】

Lin Yang laughed. “Within my means?”

He checked his shop balance. He still had more than a hundred spirit stones, representing over a hundred billion stones of purchasing power in the shop. He gave his means a moment’s consideration.

“Considered them. I can afford it!”

Cultivating the Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body required plenty of treasures to temper his body. The Supreme Yin Spirit-Refining Scripture needed spiritual items to nourish his soul. His sword arts, movement techniques, and spells each needed supplementary materials too.

Lin Yang opened the shop and sorted by price, highest first.

【Tier-Two Epic Heaven-and-Earth Body-Tempering Liquid!】

【Effect: Strengthens flesh, sinews, bones, and internal organs!】

【Original price: 100,000,000 low-grade spirit stones per bottle!】

【Discounted price: 0.1 low-grade spirit stones!】

…

【Effect: Helps comprehend sword intent and speeds up sword-art cultivation!】

【Original price: 50,000,000 low-grade spirit stones each!】

【Discounted price: 0.05 low-grade spirit stones!】

He looked over the products. “A hundred bottles of body-tempering liquid! A hundred of soul-nourishing dew! A hundred sword intent stones to start! And a hundred portions of every material the other techniques need!”

【Purchase successful!】

Cultivation resources instantly filled the chamber. Lin Yang began with the Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body. He poured the body-tempering liquid into the tub: one bottle, ten, fifty, a hundred! The liquid turned deep yellow. Its dense energy churned so heavily that cracks appeared in the floor beneath the tub.

Lin Yang sat inside and circulated the technique.

Boom! Vast amounts of energy surged into him, strengthening his flesh, sinews, bones, and internal organs at once.

【Strength increased by 3200 points!】

【Physique increased by 3800 points!】

【Strength increased by 3400 points!】

【Physique increased by 4100 points!】

His bones cracked repeatedly, and patterns of mountains and rivers gradually appeared on his skin. Three hours later:

【Congratulations! Player has cultivated Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body to the first level!】

【Special effect obtained: Body Like a Mountain!】

He didn’t stop. When the liquid ran short, he bought more!

【Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body has reached the second level!】

【Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body has reached the third level!】

【Current state: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

As soon as he’d finished his body cultivation, he began the Supreme Yin Spirit-Refining Scripture. He opened a hundred bottles of soul-nourishing dew at once. Silvery white mist streamed into the space between his brows, and a silver full moon appeared in his sea of consciousness. Each time its light shone over that sea, his soul attribute rose rapidly.

【Soul increased by 4800 points!】

【Soul increased by 5200 points!】

【Soul increased by 5600 points!】

Several hours later:

【The Foundation Establishment portion of Supreme Yin Spirit-Refining Scripture has been perfected!】

He moved straight on to the other techniques. Sword intent stones shattered one after another as he absorbed their concentrated sword intent. The Pure Yang Sword hovered in the middle of the chamber. One became nine; nine became thirty-six. At last, 108 red-gold sword shadows appeared around him at once, each radiating powerful sword qi.

Lin Yang felt he could reduce the entire courtyard to rubble with those shadows at a thought.

【Foundation Establishment portion of Splitting Sword Shadows Art perfected!】

【Maximum sword shadows: 108!】

Next came Shadowflow Escape, Great Sun Mountain-Burning Seal, and Azure Emperor Rejuvenation. Another cultivator might need months or years to learn a single spell. Lin Yang had over a hundred thousand comprehension and was willing to use vast quantities of epic resources. He had no difficulty learning them.

After a full day, he had finally cultivated his main techniques to the limits possible at Foundation Establishment.

【Mountain-and-Sea Prison-Subduing Body: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

【Supreme Yin Spirit-Refining Scripture: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

【Splitting Sword Shadows Art: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

【Nine Heavens Lightning Escape: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

【Shadowflow Escape: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

【Great Sun Mountain-Burning Seal: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

【Azure Emperor Rejuvenation: Foundation Establishment portion perfected!】

He opened his player panel.

【Strength: 386000!】

【Physique: 352000!】

【Agility: 327000!】

【Soul: 368000!】

【True essence: 9800000!】

All four basic attributes had passed three hundred thousand. His physique and soul were well beyond the hundred thousand each required by the system.

“Now I can break through to the Violet Palace, right?”

【Player’s current attributes meet the breakthrough requirements!】

【Current chance of breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm: 10%!】

“Ten percent again?”

Lin Yang was used to it. A low chance didn’t matter as long as the shop sold pills! He searched for Violet Palace Pills.

【Tier-Two Epic Violet Palace Pill!】

【Effect: Increases chance of breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm by 1%!】

【Original price: 100,000,000 low-grade spirit stones!】

【Discounted price: 0.1 low-grade spirit stones!】

A hundred million for one pill, and it raised the chance by only one percent! An ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivator probably couldn’t buy many even after spending every last possession. Lin Yang bought a hundred immediately.

【Purchase successful!】

【Total spent: 10 low-grade spirit stones!】

【Current chance of breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm: 10%!】

He grabbed a handful and stuffed them into his mouth. Ten, thirty, fifty, a hundred!

【Chance of breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm increased by 1%!】

【Chance of breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm increased by 1%!】

…

【Current chance of breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm: 110%!】

“One hundred and ten percent. That’s secure!”

Evening had fallen. Lin Yang sat cross-legged and circulated the Primal Dao Canon. The power of a hundred Violet Palace Pills erupted inside him at once. In his spirit sea, 9.8 million points of primal true essence surged wildly, while his purple-gold Primal Dao Foundation rose steadily upward. At the same time, all his soul power gathered together.

To enter the Violet Palace Realm, a cultivator had to open a Violet Palace within the sea of consciousness. The larger it was, the more soul power it could hold and the stronger the spiritual sense the cultivator could use.

Boom! Deep in Lin Yang’s sea of consciousness, a huge purple palace phantom slowly took shape. Its gates opened, and countless rays of purple light illuminated the entire sea.

Outside, there was no dazzling column of light or heavenly phenomenon. Only a terrifying force traveled into the earth beneath Lin Yang’s feet.

Rumble!

The whole mountain housing the Demon Beast Suppression Hall trembled gently. Tables and chairs shook in the courtyards, dust fell from roofs, and tiny cracks appeared in the ground. Several nearby disciples who had just returned from assignments rushed out of their rooms.

“What’s happening? An earthquake?”

“This is a cultivation sect. Can we still get earthquakes?”

“Could some great demon under the mountain be turning over?”

The shaking lasted a dozen seconds or so before subsiding. The disciples searched the area and found nothing wrong. None could have imagined that the tremor had been caused by a newly admitted outer disciple breaking through to the Violet Palace Realm!

In the chamber, Lin Yang opened his eyes. A flash of purple passed through them.

【Congratulations! Player has successfully broken through!】

【Current realm: First level of the Violet Palace Realm!】

【Primal Violet Palace successfully opened!】

【Violet Palace quality: Epic!】

【Tier-three shop unlocked!】

“The Violet Palace Realm!”

He smiled as he sensed the enormous palace in his sea of consciousness. Now he could release his spiritual sense. Without using his eyes, everything within tens of thousands of meters appeared clearly in his mind: the Demon Beast Suppression Hall’s buildings, demonic beasts in the forest, outer disciples on patrol, even insects crawling underground.

A new achievement notification appeared.

【Congratulations! Player has earned a special achievement!】

【Achievement: First Violet Palace Cultivator in the Black Mountain Region!】

【You are the first Blue Star player in the Black Mountain Region to break through to the Violet Palace Realm!】

【This announcement will continue to use the display name: Wealthy Heavenly Emperor!】

Lin Yang looked at the sky. Dawn wasn’t far away. “Wake up and spend another eighty thousand. I should be Blue Star’s first Violet Palace cultivator, right? Nice.”

The ever-modest Lin Yang nodded to himself in satisfaction.

…

Early the next morning, Blue Star players across the Black Mountain Region finished a night of cultivation and prepared for a new day. Some would work in sect herb fields; some would follow senior disciples down the mountain to hunt demons; others picked up mining tools to meet their daily quota.

Then a golden announcement appeared before them all.

【Black Mountain Region-wide announcement!】

【Congratulations to player “Wealthy Heavenly Emperor,” the first Blue Star player in the Black Mountain Region to break through to the Violet Palace Realm!】

【The road to immortality is long. Press ever onward!】

The regional chat fell silent for several seconds. Then it exploded.

“Violet Palace?”

“Didn’t he only establish his foundation yesterday?”

“I went to sleep, and he broke through a whole major realm?”

“I spent all night studying my technique and still haven’t drawn spiritual energy into my body!”

“You’re doing great, bro. I mined all day, fell asleep as soon as I lay down, and didn’t even finish the first page of the breathing technique!”

“My master says it normally takes decades of preparation to go from perfected Foundation Establishment to Violet Palace!”

“Over ten years? Wealthy Heavenly Emperor did it in a day?”

“Is this even cultivation? Did he turn on a hundred-thousandfold speed boost?”

“I’m seriously beginning to think he hacked the Heavenly Dao’s backend!”

“Great Wealthy Heavenly Emperor, what sect are you in? I want to become your disciple!”

“Is this the power of Wealthy Heavenly Emperor?”

“Everyone else takes one footprint per step; he takes ten thousand!”

In his Qingyuan Peak cave abode, Huang Bin had just reached the first level of Qi Refining and was about to send a message to the class group. At the announcement, his finger froze in midair. He looked at his own realm.

【First level of Qi Refining!】

Then he looked at Wealthy Heavenly Emperor’s.

【Violet Palace Realm!】

“Is that guy even human?”
