From Dog to Goddess: My CEO Ex's Afterlife Regret - Chapter 8
“Cheers to ‘Bai Yashu and Miranda’ for finally shedding the label of being a simp!”
Gu Xinyi raised her glass, enthusiastically shouting at me.
“Keep your voice down, don’t let anyone hear, it’s so embarrassing.”
I quickly clinked glasses with her, afraid she might shout a few more lines.
“Tsk, you weren’t embarrassed when you were simping, but now you find it shameful.” Gu Xinyi gulped down her drink, satisfied, “Refreshing!”
“I’m curious, how did you suddenly come to your senses?” She squinted her eyes, curious.
I gently stirred the ice cubes in my glass with a straw, smiling nonchalantly, “It wasn’t sudden, just gradually disappointed in him. After all this time, he still thought I was acting.”
“You just made a face at me, and even with my swollen eyes from crying, I could immediately recognize you. He’s been with you for so long and still can’t recognize you, it must be his problem!
“And besides, you don’t even need to tell me, I know that things like reincarnation or soul transfer can’t be spoken of, just like in novels.”
I kept my mouth shut, nodding very gratefully.
“See, you can’t say anything again, come on! Drink!”
After taking a sip of my drink, I spoke, “Having you is my good fortune!”
“You were so impressive during that speech today, you’re different when you’re focused on your career.” Gu Xinyi praised while leaning closer, lowering her voice, “Didn’t you see the way the brand director was looking at you? There’s definitely something there~”
“I’m not in a hurry to find another man right now, and I feel–”
“Miranda! What are you doing here?”
Before I could finish, a familiar voice suddenly interrupted me.
I turned around and saw it was Meng Yichen, instantly wiping the smile off my face.
“Oh, the jerk is here.” Gu Xinyi whispered in my ear, teasing, “And he brought a stand-in.”
Only then did I notice a young female college student behind him, her features strikingly similar to Bai Yashu.
“Can’t I come to a bar with my bestie?” I replied coldly.
“Bestie?” Meng Yichen’s gaze shifted to Gu Xinyi, a flash in his eyes, “Isn’t this–”
“Oh! I get it now!” Meng Yichen suddenly realized, exclaiming excitedly, “It’s all you, you told her, didn’t you!”
Gu Xinyi and I were both baffled.
“You told Miranda about my behavior and words when I was with Yashu, you were teaching Miranda! So that’s it!”
Gu Xinyi and I exchanged glances, completely speechless at his logic.
“Wow, I’ve never seen a man as dumb as you!” Gu Xinyi spoke up for me, “Can’t even recognize the person you love when they’re right in front of you, pretending to be all sentimental day and night?”
Not wanting to stir up more trouble, I reached out to stop the increasingly agitated Gu Xinyi.
“Let me speak!” Gu Xinyi shook off my hand, her anger rising, “Bai Yashu hasn’t been gone for even two months, and you’ve already found a stand-in. Who are you trying to disgust? You didn’t cherish her when she was alive, and now you’re crying your heart out.
“Late affection is worse than dog crap!”
“Don’t you dare talk about Yichen like that!” The little stand-in behind Meng Yichen suddenly spoke in a sweet voice.
“So sickening, pretending like this in front of the real deal, this is what they call a poor imitation, only your Yichen would buy it.” Gu Xinyi continued her attack.
Her words were satisfying, but many people in the bar were watching, even the owner came over to intervene.
I quickly pulled her outside to avoid a real fight, causing trouble and fighting would lead to detention.
As we passed Meng Yichen, he grabbed my arm, a hint of emotion in his eyes.
“Is this another one of your tricks?”
I thought he might have a conscience, but he was still suspicious?
“You’re crazy!” I finally snapped.
“Who are you calling crazy!” The little stand-in started hiccuping again.
“Madman and madwoman, you two are a perfect match!” Gu Xinyi stepped out of the bar, turning back to add.
I said to the owner, “Boss, the bill for our table is on him!”
