Forgotten Love - Chapter 10
At night, Gu Huaian and I slept in the guest room.
This was the first time we’d shared a bed since I lost my memory.
But he kept tossing and turning, making it hard for me to sleep as well.
“Huaian, if you’re uncomfortable, why don’t you just make a bed on the floor?”
I suggested sincerely, but Gu Huaian immediately sat up.
He complained aggrievedly:
“Shen Qingruan, I just got out of the hospital not long ago. Can you really bear to make a patient sleep on the floor?”
Gu Huaian looked thoroughly displeased.
But his freshly washed hair lay obediently across his forehead.
As I looked at him, I couldn’t help but feel a tickle in my heart.
Before my brain could catch up, my hand reached out and grabbed his collar.
I tilted my head up and blocked his mouth, which had been chattering nonstop.
“Mmm!”
Gu Huaian’s pupils shrank sharply.
His raised arm froze awkwardly in midair.
“Open your mouth.”
I gently parted his lips with the tip of my tongue.
The moment our tongues entwined,
Gu Huaian couldn’t help but close his eyes,
pulling me tightly into his arms.
The atmosphere gradually heated up.
His burning palm slipped under my clothes…
Suddenly, a ringing in my ears, accompanied by a wave of nausea rising from my stomach.
I turned my head and pushed Gu Huaian away.
But I still couldn’t hold it back and retched up some sour liquid.
“Shen Qingruan! You-you-fine, just great…!”
“Kissing me makes you so nauseous you throw up?!”
Gu Huaian’s unfocused eyes instantly regained clarity.
He looked as if he’d been deeply insulted.
His face was darker than a pot my mom had burned.
Seeing he was about to get out of bed in anger, I hurriedly grabbed his arm.
Forcing myself to endure the discomfort, I gave an awkward smile:
“Um, I just ate too much tonight, my stomach’s a bit upset.”
“It’s really not your fault, really!”
I tugged pitifully at Gu Huaian’s sleeve.
He pressed his lips together and ignored me.
But his chest, which had been heaving violently, gradually calmed down.
After a while, he seemed to think of something.
His pupils widened as he stared at me intently.
When he spoke, he started stammering:
“You-you-you, you’re not… are you…”
His gaze landed on my stomach.
His brows furrowed high, looking extremely conflicted.
I instantly understood what he meant.
“You’re overthinking it.”
I couldn’t help but laugh and tease him:
“What, now just a kiss can get someone pregnant, and morning sickness follows right after?”
“Shen Qingruan, you know I’m not talking about you and me!”
Gu Huaian blushed again from my teasing.
“I mean, before I lost my memory! Since we’re married, we must have…”
He didn’t finish his sentence and coughed awkwardly.
His gaze became evasive.
“No way. Back then, you and I were always careful.”
Hearing my explanation, Gu Huaian let out an “oh.”
His expression actually looked a little disappointed.
But I no longer had the energy to analyze his feelings.
The persistent nausea was making my head feel like it was about to explode.
Gu Huaian seemed to say something else.
Leaning against the headboard, I really didn’t catch it, so I just replied with a casual “mm.”
Then, Gu Huaian left the room.
Not long after, he came back.
He brought some medicine and a cup of warm water, handing them to me.
“This looks like gastroenteritis. Take some medicine first.”
Seeing me obediently take the medicine and finish the water he poured,
he snorted, a trace of concern flashing in his eyes.
“Look at my speed, then look at how slow you were pouring water at noon.”
“When I’m old, I really can’t count on you.”
“After all, the water was poured today, but the person died yesterday.”
“Pfft.”
I couldn’t help but laugh again.
With Gu Huaian’s interruption,
I actually felt a lot better.
Seeing my complexion improve, Gu Huaian finally relaxed.
He brought over a mop and cleaned the floor.
By the time everything was done, it was almost two in the morning.
“Go to sleep, Huaian. I haven’t slept well these days without you by my side.”
“Tonight, I can finally get a good night’s sleep~”
Maybe it was the medicine taking effect,
but all the headache and nausea disappeared.
I watched as a crystal-clear bead of sweat
slid down Gu Huaian’s high nose bridge and along his perfect jawline.
I couldn’t help but let my mind wander again.
Maybe my gaze was too blatant,
because Gu Huaian turned his head, his voice a little hoarse:
“I-I’ll go take a shower first.”
With that, he hurried into the bathroom as if fleeing.
The sound of water pattered down, and if I listened closely, it seemed to be mixed with a few suppressed groans…
I don’t know how long it was before the water finally stopped.
A cool breeze, carrying a faint woody scent, drifted over.
Huh? He even took a cold shower?
I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep,
snuggling into Gu Huaian’s arms.
Hiding my smile at the corner of my mouth, I mumbled:
“Husband…”
The chest pressed against mine instantly grew warm.
Gu Huaian stiffened, not moving at all.
In a drowsy haze, I seemed to be gently pulled into his embrace.
