Chapter 5
When a bouquet of French roses appeared in the office.
I wasn’t surprised; I had been mentally prepared for it and handed it directly to my assistant.
The assistant scratched his head, embarrassed, and said, “President Yun, Mr. Ying is waiting for you in the lounge. And he said if you give the flowers away casually, you might as well give him away too… I can’t handle that.”
Years have passed.
Ying Chen is still as shameless as ever.
No matter how elegantly packaged, he’s still a refined scoundrel.
“Qi.”
Seeing me enter, he squinted, smiling like a proud child, “After all these years, you haven’t changed.”
I replied indifferently, “No, I’ve changed. I have a family now, and I no longer believe in men’s lies.”
Ying Chen laughed heartily.
He hasn’t changed, always with an attitude that disregards everyone.
His eyes were playful, “Oh? Your blind husband? Don’t tease me, Qi. You don’t have to wrong yourself just to spite me.”
I paused for a moment and said, “Wrong myself? You’re overthinking it. He’s a good person, just not very fortunate.”
The lounge wasn’t large.
Outside the blinds was a corridor, rarely frequented.
Ying Chen’s smile faded, his expression turning calm, even somewhat speechless.
He sighed and said, “Qi, you should understand me. What happened back then was beyond any of our control.”
As he spoke, he moved closer to me.
Bringing with him the scent of oceanic cologne.
Ying Chen gently placed his hand on the table beside me, staring intently at me:
“Marrying a blind man isn’t worth it, Qi.”
Then, he shifted his gaze.
Looking out the window at a figure that had appeared at some point, he sneered:
“Especially when it’s a cowardly man who just watches from outside as his wife is about to be taken away.”
I was startled.
I turned sharply to look.
Only to see that cool and ethereal man, holding a lunchbox in one hand, using those vacant eyes to “stare” at me.
“…Jiang Mo?”
