Chapter 8
Delete it if you must; I feel a bit like I’m letting things go. I don’t care anymore.
Another week passed, and my dad mentioned that his boss’s son’s engagement ran into some trouble.
At that moment, the chips in my hand lost their flavor.
“My boss has been really angry lately. I heard he gave Li a good beating and kicked him out of the house,” my dad urgently shared his difficult situation in the family group chat.
“Li is so handsome. If he were my son, I wouldn’t have the heart to hit him,” my mom said with a pained expression, as if Liam Evans were her own son.
Meanwhile, I stayed silent in the chat, subtly trying to confirm that this matter had nothing to do with me.
“Dad, what was the reason? Is there still hope for your promotion?” I carefully worded my question to avoid suspicion.
“What else? The young man is handsome and was caught dating several girlfriends at once, sigh…”
“Oh…” Of course, a playboy, serves him right!
I instantly felt relieved, as it had nothing to do with me.
“I heard he was chatting inappropriately with a girl on WeChat. Apparently, they spent the night together, and the girl wanted to return his clothes, asking him to keep it a secret… The WeChat chat records were caught by his girlfriend on the spot.”
Me: ?!
This… Is my dad hinting at me? I was so shocked that my phone fell to the ground.
The chat continued, and I opened it to see my mom’s message, “Are girls really this open nowadays? If our Ella Thompson were half as open, she wouldn’t be single now.”
Damn! I wanted to say, your daughter is so open that even she fears herself.
I immediately exited the chat, turned off my phone, and started sweating.
I carefully recalled the conversation from that day. Could it be his girlfriend who deleted me? The thought was terrifying.
I quickly opened WeChat, changed my profile picture, and set my Moments to be visible only to myself.
