Chapter 25
Finally saying those words made me feel a bit better.
Ryan Chen and I became friends who talked about everything.
Setting aside the identity of a matchmaking prospect, I found that I got along better with Ryan Chen, and wasn’t as reserved.
Moreover, our hobbies were surprisingly similar: the songs we liked, the movies we enjoyed, the actors we admired, the places we wanted to visit…
No wonder we were from the same era; our interests were quite similar.
But every time I marveled at our similarities, I would inexplicably think of Liam Evans.
He and I seemed to have more than one generation gap; I just couldn’t understand his actions and behavior.
I also wanted to send him a WeChat message asking how he was doing, wondering if he had a girlfriend.
But then I thought, what does it matter to me?
With his charming looks, it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t have a girlfriend.
Another six months passed, and Ryan Chen had become not only my good friend but also my mom’s right-hand man, frequently visiting our home. It was obvious to everyone that he liked me.
However, he never mentioned liking me, leaving me without a reason to refuse.
In my dad’s words, he was the kind of man suitable for marriage.
My mom immediately countered, “Ella Thompson, don’t be like me. Find a suitable man to marry, but the days afterward will lack passion. Although I hope you get married soon, you should find someone you truly like.”
My dad was unjustly criticized.
Find someone you like? I carefully recalled, and after turning 20, I seemed to have lost that feeling of excitement.
Except for that night, when Liam Evans whispered in my ear asking if I had locked the door, the blush and heartbeat from that moment still lingered in my memory.
I held my phone, pretending to send a group message, and sent Liam Evans a “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.”
After sending it, I waited for a while without receiving a reply, feeling a bit ashamed and wanting to retract it, but the time had passed.
I simply took my phone to the shower, waiting for a message while washing.
Halfway through, the message finally arrived.
“Group message?” he asked.
I breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, he hadn’t noticed.
“A group blessing is still a blessing.”
“Who are you kidding?”
He was still the same as before. Though he had been gone for half a year, it felt like he had never left.
I held my phone, contemplating how to reply, “Believe it or not.”
After sending the message, I looked up and saw myself smiling in the mirror. I must be crazy.
Another message notification came, and I swiped open my phone.
“How come my cousin didn’t receive the group message?”
I froze.
How did he know his cousin didn’t receive it?
I indeed didn’t have the habit of sending group blessings, and I hadn’t expected my first attempt at pretending would fail.
“Maybe I missed it. How do you know?”
“Oh, I was lucky not to be missed,” he paused, then sent a photo.
I looked at it; the photo showed a drunken Ryan Chen.
Oh, so he was with Ryan Chen.
Wait, why are they together?
