Summary
As the rebel army approaches the city, our family’s carriage refuses to move.
Father looks at the carriage packed with gold and silver, ultimately unwilling to part with it.
He shoved a dagger into my hand, telling me to get out and escape on my own.
“Life and death matter little; honor matters most. Don’t disgrace the family’s integrity.”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
Taking the dagger, I turned and plunged it into his throat.
Father, honestly-if you’d said this earlier, I wouldn’t have felt any qualms at all.
