Falling for the Best Man, A Second Chance at Love - Chapter 22
After Gu Huaichen left.
Sheng Moyang’s call came through again.
Once connected, silence fell between us.
After a long pause, he sighed softly, as if surrendering.
“I’m hungry. Are you?”
“Yes, I am.”
That night.
The two bowls of crab roe noodles sat on the dining table, cooling from hot to cold.
Neither of us had the heart to eat.
We kissed and embraced each other with wild, fervent passion.
As if trying to pour all the pent-up longing in our hearts into one another.
Until we were finally exhausted.
We leaned against the headboard.
I nestled in his arms, flipping through an old photo album.
Inside were snapshots taken by the photographer during a wedding long ago.
Back then, he was the best man, and I was the bride.
And in every group photo.
His gaze was fixed solely on me.
I used to think it was just a coincidence and laughed it off.
But seeing it again today, it stirred something deeper within me.
I had planned to throw away everything related to Gu Huaichen.
Yet, I kept this album.
Pointing to the blatant look in his eyes in one of the photos, I asked him directly:
“Sheng Moyang, you once said you had someone you liked. Was that person me?”
He played with my hair, his voice tinged with laughter:
“No wonder the photographer kept looking at me strangely. Turns out, the way you look at someone you love can’t be hidden at all.”
Later, he asked me too.
Was that silent phone call because I missed him?
I stifled a laugh, tilted my head up, and kissed him.
“Yes, I missed you.”
