It was nearly nine o’clock at night.
There was a knock at the door.
A faint spark of hope flickered in my heart.
I hurried to the door.
When I opened it, it was Gu Huaichen standing outside.
For no reason, the light in my eyes dimmed a little.
His brows furrowed slightly:
“Are you waiting for someone? Who are you waiting for at this hour?”
I replied impatiently:
“I don’t see how that concerns you.”
As soon as I finished speaking, he suddenly forced his way into the house.
He strode toward the bedroom with a gust of wind.
I followed quickly, confused.
He barged straight into the master bedroom, ignoring my attempts to stop him, and searched around on his own.
Only after confirming there was not a trace of any man did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Furious, I shouted at him:
“Gu Huaichen, what’s gotten into you in the middle of the night?”
Suddenly, he snatched the phone from my hand.
He dialed a number and put it on speaker.
