Chapter 59 - Sacred Mountain in Myanmar (Part XIII)
The two monstrous beings with dog-like heads and human bodies were blasted away, their clothes shredded by the gunfire that lodged pellets into their flesh, emitting black smoke with a hissing sound.
After firing his gun, Chen Shaoxian pulled out the evil-slaying blade strapped to his back and walked over to the two smoking corpses lying on the ground, savagely chopping off their heads with several fierce strikes.
The moment the heads fell, a thick black vapor sprayed out from the necks. As the vapor cleared, the bodies rapidly deflated.
The special forces who had been rescued were somewhat better off, merely staring at Chen Shaoxian in surprise, while the three foreigners stood there agape.
Chen Shaoxian wiped his blade on the sole of his boot and sheathed it back into the sheath on his back, then walked back to the deity statue of Fudo Myo-o. He carefully inspected it and noticed many small holes on the statue’s surface, then climbed onto the shrine.
He realized that the holes were arranged systematically and that wind was blowing out from them. Chen Shaoxian tapped on the statue; although he couldn’t hear due to his ears being plugged, he could feel from the vibrations that the statue was cast very thinly.
Just then, everyone felt the ground slightly tremble. They turned their heads back toward the direction they came from.
Chen Shaoxian, who was on the shrine, quickly picked up an incense burner and smashed it against the deity statue, creating a hole in it.
Xiao Zhuang also jumped up and helped Chen Shaoxian smash the statue with the butt of his gun. Soon, the deity statue was shattered into pieces.
After the Immortal was smashed, a dark, pitch-black cave was revealed in its place.
As the entrance was smashed open, Chen Shaoxian quickly called everyone to crawl inside. After all the others had entered, he took out a packet of incense ash, tore it open, and scattered it into the air, filling the space with flying ash. Then he wedged his flashlight in a spot and quickly crawled into the cave.
Once inside, Chen Shaoxian immediately lay flat on the ground and peered outside using the light from the flashlight.
Soon, a huge figure appeared in the dusty air, the Inu Oni.
The body of the Inu Oni shrank as if deflated, its skin ruptured to reveal dark red flesh, and crumbling scales hung from its body. Remarkably, two additional heads had sprouted on either side of the Inu Oni’s neck, one of which appeared as if it had been split in half by some force, swinging and dripping blood as the creature moved, emitting black smoke from the split.
The middle head’s eyes opened, scanning the surroundings with a ghostly gaze, continuously sniffing the air. However, the incense ash in the room interfered with its sense of smell, causing the Inu Oni to sneeze continuously while tears streamed from its five eyes.
The Inu Oni gasped for air with its mouth wide open, its sharp teeth covered in bits of flesh. It seemed agitated, emitting low growls intermittently, and suddenly, upon spotting three corpses on the ground, it let out an angry roar and charged towards them.
At that moment, a massive mountain boar appeared behind the Inu Oni.
The Inu Oni immediately roared at the mountain boar.
The mountain boar was also severely wounded, its body mangled from the Inu Oni’s bites, and even one of its iron-hard tusks was broken. Upon seeing the Inu Oni, the mountain boar charged at it.
Instead of confronting it directly, the Inu Oni quickly grabbed the three headless corpses from the ground, juggling between fighting the mountain boar and devouring the bodies, swiftly tearing and swallowing them.
After consuming the bodies, the Inu Oni’s appearance grew more ferocious, and its body seemed to inflate and grow, turning slightly pale as it expanded.
Sensing something amiss, the mountain boar turned to flee the way it had come, but the Inu Oni pounced, its two large mouths clamping firmly onto the boar, its sharp teeth sinking deep into the boar’s flesh.
Desperate, the mountain boar thrashed wildly trying to shake off the Inu Oni, but it clung on stubbornly. Unable to shake the creature off, the mountain boar stopped and desperately exhaled thick fog to envelop itself.
While clamped onto the mountain boar, the Inu Oni suddenly glanced towards the direction of a cave.
Chen Shaoxian sensed danger and hurriedly scrambled to his feet, leading the others towards the cave. They hadn’t gotten far when a powerful blast from behind lifted them into the air and slammed them to the ground.
At that moment, the entire cave shook, followed by a thunderous roar as the cave behind them collapsed. Falling boulders blocked Chen Shaoxian and his group’s path, sealing it completely.
