Summary
I died on the night he crowned another woman as Empress. While the whole world celebrated and all the people knelt in worship, I was alone in the Cold Palace, holding the little fox that had grown cold, quietly breathing my last.
The little fox was once his betrothal gift to me. Back then, he was poor and promised that one day he would make up for the missing phoenix crown and ceremonial robes.
I accompanied him from a fallen prince to the Emperor who unified the realm, yet when he ascended the throne, he made someone else Empress.
He let her wear the most splendid phoenix crown and ceremonial robes, indulged her as she snatched away my little fox, skinning it and tearing it apart.
He casually said he would compensate me with another one, as if that would suffice.
He never knew-I was already dead.
