Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 88 - Suddenly Coming Back
Zhu Nan listened to the fat guy mock him without holding back at all. He didn’t say a word in response and picked up a bottle of alcohol, starting to drink silently. The fat guy turned to look at Zhu Nan and put down his drink, his eyes sparkling with a glimmer that clearly indicated he was someone who wouldn’t abide by the law.
“Do you want me to help you get revenge?” the fat guy suddenly asked, causing Zhu Nan to stop in his tracks. He looked at him, a hint of disbelief in his eyes.
The fat guy looked back at Zhu Nan, unaware that he had crossed paths with Tang Jie. The memory of that encounter still lingered painfully in Zhu Nan’s mind. Although Tang Jie hadn’t taken his life, he had suffered a crushing defeat and had become the subject of ridicule. It took him a long time to swallow that humiliation, not to mention his father, who had been brought down by Chen Shuran’s father. Zhu Nan wished he could humiliate Chen Shuran and tear Tang Jie to shreds, but he felt powerless to do anything about it.
Hearing the fat guy’s words reignited the flames of vengeance in Zhu Nan’s heart. He slammed the bottle down on the table, glaring at the fat guy. “What can you do? That guy is not easy to deal with.”
The fat guy, named Jiang Dong, was someone Zhu Nan had known a long time ago. However, Jiang Dong had been on the run for a while due to his involvement in drug trafficking with a gang, rarely appearing in town. Recently, he had taken out a gang leader in F City, seizing all his assets and smoothing things over with local officials, getting his previous warrants lifted, and returning in style.
Zhu Nan had been thinking of using Jiang Dong to settle his father’s situation, hoping to get his dad reinstated at the police station, which is why he sought him out.
“I have plenty of ways, you know me. What’s a bodyguard compared to that? Even that girl’s father wouldn’t dare make a move,” Jiang Dong said, taking a sip of beer, a naturally sinister smile on his face.
Zhu Nan felt no surprise at his words. Since Jiang Dong had killed a notorious gang leader, what was a chairman of a group? However, having learned a lesson from his previous encounter, he was hesitant to act against Chen Shuran’s father without complete confidence, especially since his dad had yet to regain his position. If he caused trouble, Jiang Dong could easily walk away, but he and his father wouldn’t be able to escape.
“What’s your plan?” Zhu Nan asked carefully, though he had concerns. The desire for revenge had been brewing for a long time.
“Give me the girl’s address, and I’ll grab her. I’ll let you know when it’s done,” Jiang Dong replied. Zhu Nan hesitated for a moment before revealing the villa’s address.
“Dong-Ge, you know why I came to you. When can you handle that matter?” Zhu Nan understood that Jiang Dong was a lecher at heart; his offer to help was primarily because he had his eyes on Chen Shuran.
“Don’t worry. I promise I’ll take care of it. Just make sure to remind your dad that he needs to cooperate when my brothers are working,” Jiang Dong said straightforwardly, stating his demands without hesitation. Zhu Nan accepted that he needed to fulfill Jiang Dong’s request if he wanted help in reinstating his father. It was a mutually beneficial deal.
“Okay, I understand. I’ll definitely tell him you’re helping,” Zhu Nan said without a second thought. As long as his dad could regain his position and with Jiang Dong as a backing, he would have his chance for revenge against Chen Shuran and Tang Jie sooner or later.
Hmph! Tang Jie, just wait! I will repay you double!
Zhu Nan secretly swore to himself, as the people in the bar began to clear out slowly.
“By the way, Dong-Ge, when do you plan to take action?” After drinking for a while, Zhu Nan asked again. He knew Jiang Dong was someone who followed through on his words, and whatever he wanted, he would get.
“Tonight.” Jiang Dong didn’t hide it, looking at Zhu Nan carelessly. Thinking of Chen Shuran’s alluring appearance earlier, he could barely contain his desire to find her immediately, drag her to bed, and have his way with her.
“Tonight?” Zhu Nan was taken aback. That was rather quick.
“What’s wrong?” Jiang Dong asked carelessly, noticing Zhu Nan’s surprise. When it came to getting women, he preferred to act swiftly; he never liked waiting.
If he could get the girl before she sobered up, he wouldn’t even have to get her drunk again and could skip the hassle. He loved seducing beauties! The thought made Jiang Dong salivate, and he began to envision the sounds Chen Shuran would make while he was with her.
“Nothing. Just make sure to bring more people and be careful of that guy,” Zhu Nan knew once Jiang Dong made a decision, he wouldn’t change it, so he reminded him.
“Don’t worry. I’ve never messed up when handling things,” Jiang Dong said with a cold, vicious smile.
Tang Jie took Chen Shuran home, and just as expected, as soon as they got out of the car, she squatted down and started to vomit. Tang Jie quickly patted her back, drawing the attention of passersby. After a while, Chen Shuran managed to calm down, but when Tang Jie attempted to help her up, he realized that her legs had turned to jelly and she couldn’t walk.
With no other option, Tang Jie picked her up. Chen Shuran naturally wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head against his chest. Her flushed face looked particularly cute and charming under the sunlight.
Once inside, Tang Jie carried Chen Shuran straight to her room. After laying her down on the bed, he really wanted to go to the bathroom to get a towel and wipe her mouth, but unexpectedly, Chen Shuran tugged at the hem of his shirt.
“Tang Jie, don’t go. Stay with me, okay?” she pleaded, holding on tight. Tang Jie found a place to sit beside her on the bed.
“Do you know that I like you? Do you know that? Will you tell me if you like me?” Suddenly, Chen Shuran opened her eyes, gazing at Tang Jie with her big, watery eyes. Tang Jie felt his heart skip a beat, an inexplicable sense of affection swelling within him.
“You’re drunk. Let me get you some water,” he suggested, looking at her.
“I don’t want water. I just want you to answer me. Do you like me or not?” Chen Shuran insisted. Tang Jie felt helpless, realizing she was drunk; he thought it would be better to let her sleep first.
“Alright, I like you. Is that good enough? Now, please try to rest,” Tang Jie said without thinking too much. Only then did Chen Shuran slowly loosen her grip on his shirt, a look of happiness spreading across her face. Seeing her like that made Tang Jie feel a sweetness he couldn’t quite describe.
He stepped out into the living room to get some water, but just as he was walking back to Chen Shuran’s room, his phone rang.
“Hello?” Tang Jie answered, but there was silence on the other end for a while.
“Who is it? Why aren’t you speaking?” Tang Jie asked, glancing back at Chen Shuran, who still seemed to be struggling with nausea. His voice carried a hint of impatience. Suddenly, a bright, tinkling laugh came from the other end.
“What’s wrong? Don’t want to talk to me?” Wang Qianya’s voice came through. Tang Jie quickly softened his tone, “Oh, it’s you! Where are you?”
“What if I said I was right at the door? Would you believe me?” Wang Qianya said, her tone laced with mystery. Tang Jie froze for a moment.
“Are you joking? I have something going on right now. I’ll call you back,” he replied hurriedly. At that moment, Chen Shuran, lying in the room, let out a dry heave, and Tang Jie quickly ended the call and rushed back inside.
Wang Qianya stood in front of the villa, gazing up at a window with a look of suspicion on her face. She had clearly seen Tang Jie get out of the car with Chen Shuran earlier, and when Tang Jie mentioned that he had something going on, she wondered what it could be.
With these thoughts in mind, she stepped inside. This time, she had finally managed to convince her parents to allow her to return to No. 2 High School to continue her studies, and the reason was obvious-it was all because of Tang Jie.
She had planned to surprise him, thinking he would be thrilled to see her. However, his tone on the phone had sounded a bit strange, leaving her feeling uneasy. As she approached the door, she stood for a moment, listening. It seemed there were some sounds coming from inside, so she knocked on the door.
Just as Tang Jie had helped Chen Shuran drink some water, he heard the knocking from outside. He laid Chen Shuran back down on the bed and went to the living room to answer the door. When he reached the entrance, he instinctively peered through the peephole, only to see no one outside. What was going on?
As he pondered this, the knocking came again. A sense of alertness rose within him as he suddenly pulled open the door, and Wang Qianya jumped out from the side, beaming a smile at Tang Jie.
“You really are here…” Tang Jie was taken aback to see Wang Qianya. He had thought she was joking on the phone and hadn’t expected her to actually return.
“What’s with the strong smell of alcohol?” Before Wang Qianya could answer Tang Jie, she caught the scent of liquor wafting from inside the house. Tang Jie glanced back, realizing he couldn’t hide it anymore; there was no need to. Wang Qianya wasn’t just anyone. He invited her in and then closed the door.
Wang Qianya walked over to the door of Chen Shuran’s room and immediately understood. A drunken Chen Shuran was fast asleep on the bed. Wang Qianya’s sharp eyes noticed the water glass and towel on the table, and she looked at Tang Jie with a smirk. “I see you’ve learned to take care of someone while I’ve been away.”
After saying that, Wang Qianya settled into a nearby sofa. Tang Jie sensed an unfamiliar scent lingering in the air along with the smell of alcohol-something a bit sour.
“How did she get drunk?” After sitting down, Wang Qianya didn’t let up. Her eyes scrutinized Tang Jie closely. He felt cornered by her inquisitive gaze and decided to explain how Chen Shuran had gotten drunk, but he omitted the details of her earlier questions to him and how he had responded.
