Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 85 - Fated Confrontation
“I never thought you would stoop to such a despicable method to deal with my son,” Qin Haozhong’s father, Qin Tian, exclaimed fiercely, his eyes glancing at the injuries on Qin Haozhong’s face.
“Dad… it’s not like that…”
“Shut up!” Qin Haozhong tried to explain, but was cut off by Qin Tian’s angry shout!
“Who is more despicable is clear to everyone. I want to know what evidence you have to say that I hired someone to beat up your son?” Chen Jiankai’s tone was equally strong. The two impeccably dressed, imposing middle-aged men seemed ready to publicly argue.
Seeing this, Tang Jie quickly ran over with Chen Shuran.
“Uncle Chen, what’s going on here?”
Chen Jiankai’s expression softened a bit when he saw Tang Jie approaching, accompanied by Chen Shuran.
“Tang, why didn’t you let me know you were coming out? I just got a call saying Shuran’s house was ransacked yesterday. I wanted to check on you, but then you weren’t there, and I couldn’t reach you by phone. I thought something had happened to you!”
Tang Jie felt it was a bit strange. He hadn’t even told Uncle Zhao about the villa incident, so how did Chen Jiankai find out? But then he realized that since they were living in Chen Jiankai’s property, it would be easy for him to learn about such matters.
“Sorry, Uncle Chen, I didn’t want to worry you. Besides, we’re fine,” Tang Jie explained to Chen Jiankai.
“That’s good to hear. But if anything like that happens again, you must call me. It’s not that I don’t trust you; it’s just that I’m afraid you can’t handle it alone.”
Chen Jiankai looked at Tang Jie, speaking earnestly. After all, Chen Shuran was his only daughter, and he didn’t want her to get into any trouble, nor did he want to see Tang Jie in harm’s way.
“Yeah, I understand. By the way, Uncle Chen, how did you end up here?”
After talking for a while, Tang Jie finally remembered to ask that question. Since Chen Jiankai hadn’t found them at the villa, how did he know they were here?
“Hey Chen, is this your person?” Qin Tian suddenly exclaimed loudly, interrupting Tang Jie’s question.
“My person? What about it?” Chen Jiankai retorted, unwilling to back down, almost forgetting that his archrival was standing beside him.
“It’s your people who took my son. I just saw them come back together, and now there are witnesses and evidence. Just wait for the court summons!” Qin Tian shouted at Chen Jiankai before pulling Qin Haozhong toward the car. In the end, he shot a glance at Tang Jie, who was standing nearby.
Hearing this, Tang Jie looked at the equally troubled Chen Jiankai and at Qin Haozhong, who was being pushed up by his father. His face clearly displayed a sense of helplessness.
“A summons? You’ve been trying to find a way to take me down for some time now. Do you think you can sue me over this small matter? Go ahead and try,” Chen Jiankai replied, signaling for Chen Shuran to get into the car.
Tang Jie felt a headache coming on. Although he knew the rivalry between the Qin Family and the Chen Family had been ongoing for a long time, seeing the leaders of the two family groups openly clash for the first time on the street was brand new to him.
Moreover, weren’t they misunderstanding something here? Yes, it was true that Qin Haozhong was with him, but it wasn’t in the way Qin Tian was implying. He had clearly saved his son; how did it turn into him harming Qin Haozhong?
“Uh, could you wait a moment? Let me explain…”
“No need to explain! Anything you have to say, say it in court!” Tang Jie approached Qin Tian, wanting to clarify, but was loudly rejected. Qin Haozhong had long been afraid of his father’s temper. Although he knew Tang Jie was wronged, he didn’t dare to speak up.
Watching Qin Tian drive away with Qin Haozhong, while Chen Jiankai waited for him in the car, Tang Jie helplessly shook his head and got into Chen Jiankai’s vehicle.
“Tang, Uncle Chen has something to say to you.” After the car started moving, Chen Jiankai’s expression remained serious.
“Sure, go ahead, Uncle Chen,” Tang Jie replied. He didn’t really want to make any more explanations, just feeling that tonight’s events were a bit odd, but he couldn’t quite figure it all out at the moment.
“I recognize your abilities, but there are some people you’d best avoid. Don’t get too close to them-just look at what happened earlier. You also shouldn’t worry about what Qin Tian said; I’ll handle everything. But I hope this is the last time I see such a situation,” Chen Jiankai said, his tone noticeably more serious than usual. Tang Jie realized he had truly dug himself into a hole this time.
“Yeah, I understand, Uncle Chen. I’m sorry. I’ll definitely be more careful next time.” With the situation becoming too convoluted, Tang Jie didn’t want to explain any further.
“Good. With you saying that, I feel reassured,” Chen Jiankai replied, instructing the driver to take the car to a hotel.
“Since we finally have some free time today, I can see you two haven’t had a proper dinner. Let’s take this opportunity to have a meal together,” Chen Jiankai said as the car pulled into the parking lot of the hotel.
Tang Jie took a look through the car window and noticed it was a star-rated hotel. Despite feeling a bit unhappy about being wronged earlier, the luxurious neon lights outside reminded him that he hadn’t eaten yet, and after fighting with those guys, he was indeed hungry. With such hospitality, what was there to be upset about?
The driver parked the car and came around to open the door. Tang Jie followed Chen Jiankai and Chen Shuran as they exited the vehicle and entered the hotel.
Upon entering the opulent lobby, Tang Jie was struck by the magnificent decor. Just then, a hostess in a qipao approached them, greeting them warmly. “Welcome!”
Hearing that sweet voice, Tang Jie couldn’t help but glance over at the hostess. She was around 1.75 meters tall, with a model-like figure, and the fitted qipao accentuated her curves beautifully. He found it hard to look away.
Noticing Tang Jie’s greedy gaze, Chen Shuran’s face turned slightly jealous. Seizing the moment when he was distracted, she reached out and pinched his waist hard.
“Ah!” Tang Jie yelped in surprise at the sudden attack.
“What’s wrong, Tang?” Chen Jiankai, who was heading toward the elevator, turned back with a puzzled expression.
“Oh, it’s nothing, Uncle Chen. I just twisted my ankle a bit,” Tang Jie quickly replied, glancing at Chen Shuran, who was trying to look innocent while smiling at him. He thought to himself, “You’re getting more ruthless with every pinch!”
The hostess Chen Jie had been admiring mistook the situation, thinking Tang Jie and Chen Shuran were a cute couple, and chuckled to herself at Chen Shuran’s jealous reaction.
As Tang Jie saw her giggling, a warm feeling spread through his heart.
Once they entered the elevator, Chen Jiankai led Tang Jie and Chen Shuran to the Chinese restaurant on the fourth floor. It was only after they exited the elevator that Tang Jie realized the hotel had both Chinese and Western dining options.
The fifth floor housed a high-end entertainment club, while all the upper floors were luxurious hotel rooms. Looking around at the elegant and antique decor, Tang Jie felt a sense of tranquility and comfort wash over him.
They soon entered a private room, guided by a waitress. The room was even more lavishly decorated, infused with a classical ambiance. There were intricately carved wooden screens featuring the “Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival1,” along with vintage rosewood chairs that had plush cushions tailored for modern comfort.
The soft light from a classical-style chandelier enhanced the atmosphere, and even the waitress’s attire was elegantly in line with the room’s theme, resembling that of an ancient palace maid, yet just as beautiful.
After surveying the room, the waitress brought over the menu. Chen Jiankai glanced at it and then placed it in front of Tang Jie.
“Tang, feel free to order whatever you like,” Chen Jiankai encouraged.
Tang Jie snapped back to reality and looked at the menu, only to notice jaw-dropping prices. He knew Chen Jiankai wasn’t worried about the cost, but this was his first opportunity to dine in such a place. He didn’t have much experience with ordering.
“Uncle Chen, why don’t you choose? I’m fine with anything,” Tang Jie politely suggested as he pushed the menu back toward Chen Jiankai.
Chen Jiankai chuckled, pleased with Tang Jie’s response, but instead of ordering himself, he turned the menu toward Chen Shuran. “Shuran, why don’t you order? You know my taste, and since Tang Jie has been with you for a while, I’m sure you understand his preferences as well.”
With that, Tang Jie instantly appreciated Chen Jiankai’s thoughtfulness. It was clear that he was a meticulous chairman of the Qin Group.
Chen Shuran gladly accepted the opportunity, taking the menu and browsing through it. After a while, she ordered more than a dozen dishes, many of which Tang Jie couldn’t even pronounce, all sounding poetic and refined.
Once the ordering was complete, the waitress poured tea for everyone before stepping outside to wait for the food. In the meantime, Chen Jiankai began to speak.
“Tang, over time, I’ve come to understand who you are. I’ve noticed how you treat Shuran, and there are some things I’d like to share with you,” Chen Jiankai stated, watching Tang Jie’s expression closely. Sensing that Chen Jiankai was about to disclose something important, Tang Jie remained silent and listened intently.
Seeing that Tang Jie had no objections, Chen Jiankai continued, “Shuran is my only daughter, and I’ve always regarded her as my most precious treasure. I won’t dwell on that point too much, as I know you understand. As you witnessed tonight, there’s been longstanding animosity between me and the chairman of the Qin Group. However, I’ve come to realize that his son is not the one you injured. As for what you went to see him about, I won’t pry.”
Upon hearing that, Tang Jie thought Chen Jiankai was reminding him to be cautious, so he quickly replied, “I understand, Uncle Chen. I promise I will do what I said I would.”
