Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 84 - Willing to Follow
The three masked men didn’t say a word. They exchanged glances and launched another attack on Tang Jie. This time, their movements were as quick as lightning, and their strikes were fierce and precise, but they were still no match for Tang Jie.
Before the three men could reach him, Tang Jie leapt into action, positioning himself behind one of the masked men. He struck out with a palm at the man’s back. “Puh!”
The masked man who was hit spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground, motionless.
“Third brother!” one of the remaining masked men shouted out. When the person on the ground didn’t move after a long moment, anger flared in their eyes, and they charged at Tang Jie once more.
Tang Jie wasn’t hesitant this time either. He swiftly seized the wrist of one of the masked men, executed a shoulder throw, and simultaneously kicked at the other masked man coming from the left. His speed was too fast; neither of them stood a chance. Within moments, they were both knocked down-one curled up in pain, the other sprawled out, gasping for breath.
The yellow-haired man watched the scene unfold beside him, genuinely terrified, unable to utter a word.
“W-What… what are you… doing…”
Tang Jie stepped forward and ripped the mask off one of the masked men’s faces, only to uncover a stranger he had never seen before. He paused for a moment before tightening his grip around the man’s throat. “Tell me, who sent you?”
The masked man initially refused to speak, clenching his teeth, but at Tang Jie’s insistence, he screamed in pain. Looking at the yellow-haired man, he said, “It was him. We just wanted to make money. He said someone was willing to pay us to help with a job.”
Hearing this, Tang Jie released the masked man and walked over to the yellow-haired man. The yellow-haired man was shaking with fear, nearly wetting himself. As soon as he saw Tang Jie approach, he begged, “Please spare me! I know I was wrong, I won’t dare do it again. Please, don’t kill me!”
Before Tang Jie could make a move, the yellow-haired man was already terrified to death. Just as he crouched down to ask who was behind this, a foul smell hit him. Looking down, he realized the yellow-haired man had genuinely wet his pants.
What a pathetic coward! Tang Jie wrinkled his nose, enduring the unpleasant odor as he stared at the yellow-haired man. “Who is this boss you mentioned earlier? If you tell me the truth, I’ll let you go. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you can’t get up ever again!”
Tang Jie spoke as he placed one foot on the uninjured leg of the yellow-haired man. The yellow-haired man quickly nodded in panic. “I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you! It’s-”
“It’s me who brought them here!” A voice suddenly came from the entrance, and Tang Jie turned to see a slender figure standing in the doorway of the factory. It was Li Feifei.
Tang Jie was stunned, looking at Li Feifei standing at the door, dressed in a black dress that tightly wrapped around her well-developed body. There was no hint of surprise on her face as she looked at the situation inside.
“It’s you?”
Tang Jie couldn’t comprehend this as he glanced up at Qin Haozhong, still hanging from above. Who exactly was Li Feifei?
While he pondered this, Li Feifei walked in, glancing at the masked men lying on the ground, all unable to get back up, and at the yellow-haired man, who was paralyzed with fear, her face showing clear disdain.
“Truly useless!”
Seeing Li Feifei mock his defeated opponents, Tang Jie recalled her cold gaze from earlier that day and her confession.
“Why are you doing this?” he asked Li Feifei, trying to understand her reasoning. Was it just because he had refused her?
“I wanted to see just how skilled you are and whether you measure up to the standards I like. Is that so wrong?” Li Feifei looked at Tang Jie, her face calm, and in that moment, he suddenly felt that she was not an ordinary person, at least not just a simple student.
“Now that you’ve seen it, bring him down.” Tang Jie glanced at Qin Haozhong above and spoke to Li Feifei casually.
Li Feifei instructed those who could still stand to lower Qin Haozhong, then walked over to Tang Jie, her eyes shining brightly. “You really are quite capable, meeting my ideal standards. So, what do you think? Be my boyfriend? I’m asking you again.”
Her tone carried a clear admiration, and there was a gentleness in her gaze. Tang Jie looked at her, and the aura she exuded was like a black rose blooming in the night, while Chen Shuran could be likened to a bright red rose blooming in the daylight, accompanied by a hint of frost.
Seeing how much her attitude had changed, Tang Jie felt a bit lightheaded. Who wouldn’t love a beauty? But looking at the defeated people around him, he became curious about Li Feifei’s identity and background.
Tang Jie then realized that it was Li Feifei who had orchestrated the encounter at No. 2 High School with her off-road vehicle, and it had been her who got the yellow-haired man to set up the meeting at the stadium.
“What if I don’t agree to your request?” Tang Jie looked at Li Feifei and smiled, his tone dismissive.
“What if I say you definitely will?” Li Feifei was unfazed and even exuded confidence, which caused Tang Jie to feel a hint of hesitation.
At that moment, Qin Haozhong was brought down. Tang Jie took the opportunity to check on him, noticing that while his injuries weren’t severe, he was curious. After all, Qin Haozhong’s father was a well-known figure with a distinguished background; how could he be captured so easily by Li Feifei’s people?
“Your disciple really is useless. I just used a little trick, and not only did he reveal that you are his master, but he was also willing to come with me,” Li Feifei said, giving an enticing smile at the embarrassed Qin Haozhong. Tang Jie suddenly felt that her smile was inappropriate for her age. It wasn’t something a high school student would have; it seemed more like the smile of a fox spirit who had cultivated for many years.
“Well, that just shows my disciple is honest; at least he won’t lie,” Tang Jie said playfully, but there was a clear edge of sarcasm in his voice.
She dared to say that his disciple was useless, didn’t that imply he was useless too?
Li Feifei smiled charmingly, seemingly unfazed by Tang Jie’s barbs, and looked at Qin Haozhong. “If I recall correctly, he claimed to be your closed-door disciple, your only apprentice, and… your most outstanding student.”
What? Tang Jie’s eyes widened as he stared at Qin Haozhong. He hadn’t noticed before that this kid could actually brag like that.
And did he have to exaggerate so much? He hadn’t taught him a thing!
At that moment, Qin Haozhong had no energy to argue back. He could only look at Tang Jie helplessly as he bore the weight of his gaze. He felt embarrassed to admit that he had been tempted by Li Feifei’s beauty, and when he was attacked by those people, fear had made him blurt out those claims in the heat of the moment.
“Alright, tonight’s events are over. To help ease your disciple’s shock, how about I treat you all to a drink? A face-to-face penalty drink, perhaps?”
Li Feifei’s proposal was immediately approved by Qin Haozhong, who just wanted to get back quickly. If his father saw him in such a disheveled state, he would surely be in for a beating.
Drinking was not the main concern for him; he just wanted to go home and clean himself up.
Tang Jie remained noncommittal, but it was indeed time to head back. He didn’t agree to Li Feifei outright; he was still preoccupied with waiting for Chen Shuran.
With that, Tang Jie, along with Qin Haozhong, stepped out of the factory, followed by Li Feifei. As they exited, they spotted the black SUV parked outside, its license plate clearly displaying the numbers XX888.
However, what Tang Jie didn’t know was that a considerable problem awaited him.
Li Feifei invited Tang Jie and Qin Haozhong to ride back in her car. Tang Jie initially wanted to refuse, but seeing the remote surroundings and the lack of any taxis in the area, he realized that even if he called for the previous vehicle, it would take about half an hour to arrive.
After considering the time, he had no choice but to join Qin Haozhong in Li Feifei’s car. Li Feifei was an excellent driver, and they sped along, quickly reaching the city center.
For some unknown reason, when they reached a major intersection in the city, Li Feifei stopped the car by the roadside for a moment.
“What’s wrong?” Tang Jie asked in confusion, noticing that it wasn’t a red light; he wondered why she had suddenly stopped.
“It’s nothing, just wanted to take a break. I’m feeling a bit tired,” Li Feifei replied. Tang Jie didn’t think much of it and didn’t press further.
Driving could indeed be tiring, and she was a girl; wanting to rest for a moment wasn’t unusual.
About ten minutes later, a faint buzzing sound came from inside the car. Tang Jie saw Li Feifei pull out her phone, glance at it, and then restart the engine.
The vehicle headed to the dessert shop in accordance with Tang Jie’s request. He asked Qin Haozhong to get out while he went inside to call Chen Shuran out.
After waiting for what felt like an eternity in the private room, Chen Shuran finally saw Tang Jie returning and rushed to hug him. “I thought something happened to you!”
Tang Jie was momentarily taken aback by Chen Shuran’s embrace but found himself enjoying it and purposely didn’t pull away, letting her snuggle into him.
“I’m back safe and sound. Let’s go home now,” Tang Jie said, feeling a warm sweetness in his heart.
“Okay.” Chen Shuran didn’t refuse and took Tang Jie’s hand as they walked out of the dessert shop. When they stepped outside, they turned to see Qin Haozhong and were instantly taken aback.
Qin Haozhong was now accompanied by several people and a few more cars!
Moreover, one person standing next to Qin Haozhong was someone Tang Jie recognized-Chen Shuran’s father, Chen Jiankai.
What was going on? Tang Jie looked at the middle-aged man beside Qin Haozhong, who was glaring angrily at Chen Jiankai, while Chen Jiankai’s expression seemed equally tense.
