Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 43 - Treating Uncle Zhao Part 2
Turning around a street, Tang Jie suddenly realized that he was completely unfamiliar with G City. The only place he knew that Chen Shuran often visited was Passion Bar, but it was daytime, and bars don’t operate during the day.
After much contemplation, Tang Jie reluctantly took out his phone from his pocket and called Uncle Zhao.
“Uncle Zhao, where does Miss Chen usually go during the day?”
“Tang, what’s going on? Miss Chen usually attends school during the day. Isn’t she at school?” Uncle Zhao’s puzzled voice came through the phone.
“Yes! Something happened this morning, and after she ran out, she didn’t return to school.” Tang Jie thought of Chen Shuran’s sudden outburst and shook his head with a bitter smile.
Uncle Zhao furrowed his brows, taking a while before speaking: “Alright, I’ll send someone to look for her and let you know as soon as there’s any news!”
“Alright, good.” At this moment, Tang Jie’s heart felt like it was on fire, anxious and restless, unable to just wait. He looked at the long and unfamiliar street.
His hands clutched the phone tightly, though Tang Jie didn’t know why he was so anxious. He hadn’t been like this before.
Even during difficult missions, no matter the issue, Tang Jie had always managed to stay calm, but now, was it just because this was Tang Jie’s last mission?
Perhaps that’s what Tang Jie thought, but the truth remained unknown.
“Interested in her?”
Thinking of this, Tang Jie quickly dismissed the thought in his mind, shaking his head vigorously and drooping his eyelids, he started walking down the street step by step.
Guanqian Street, Tang Jie once again arrived at the lingerie shop where he had previously encountered Xiao Ran and Chen Shuran. He hoped to turn around and see Chen Shuran, but after looking back and glancing around twice, he only saw an empty lingerie shop with no one in it.
“Where on earth did that girl go?”
By this moment, Tang Jie was once again anxious inside. He picked up his phone to check, flipping open the screen to find that another hour had quietly slipped by.
“Damn, time flies so fast.”
“Old man, this task you gave me is really not easy.”
Tang Jie felt a trickle of sweat on his forehead as he glanced at the distant street, ready to press the dial button.
Suddenly, the phone in Tang Jie’s hand vibrated, followed by the buzzing sound of an incoming call. Overjoyed, Tang Jie quickly pressed the answer button.
“Hello, Uncle Zhao, what’s the situation?”
“Tang, it’s not good. Miss Chen has been kidnapped.”
“Where?”
“I don’t know, but they were heading in the direction of the suburbs. Hurry and check it out.” On the other end of the phone, Uncle Zhao’s voice was equally anxious, and this urgency in his voice only intensified the anxiety that Tang Jie felt.
Without a second thought, Tang Jie responded to Uncle Zhao while hailing a taxi with his hand.
“Quick, take me to the suburbs immediately,” Tang Jie skillfully got into the car, urgently instructing the driver.
Meanwhile, Tang Jie was already speculating about who had abducted Chen Shuran. His first thought was Wang Shiwen, the source of his recent troubles. Tang Jie knew he must make Wang Shiwen pay for this.
The taxi sped along, and in less than twenty minutes, Tang Jie reached the abandoned construction site. He hurriedly waved at the taxi driver, paid the fare, and then dashed towards the site.
Tang Jie guessed that if they’d headed towards the suburbs, this would be the ideal place for it, the scene of his past encounters. So, without hesitation, he came straight here.
Sure enough, upon arrival, a few figures emerged from the shadows. Some wielded sharp knives, while others brandished daggers, each of them eyeing Tang Jie with extreme caution.
Tang Jie furrowed his brow slightly, sensing the presence of ancient martial arts masters before him, and his brow furrowed deeply.
He hadn’t expected so many ancient martial arts masters in the secular world, each with significant strength. Tang Jie now confirmed his suspicion-this had to be Wang Shiwen’s doing. From the ancient martial arts masters sent last night, it was clear Wang Shiwen indeed held influence over them.
“Tell me, where are those two girls hidden?” Tang Jie shouted loudly with a cold expression.
The three ancient martial arts masters exchanged glances, standing upright, and one stepped forward.
“Tang Jie, is it? You sure took your time.”
Tang Jie paused slightly, eyeing the suited ancient martial arts master standing in a peculiar posture.
“What do you mean? What have you done to her? Speak,” Tang Jie demanded, his voice filled with boundless anger. Hearing this, the three ancient martial arts masters also frowned slightly.
As the conversation among the group unfolded, a petite silhouette stealthily maneuvered behind them. With a subtle motion of her hand, an ancient martial arts master hidden in the shadows of the construction site quietly fell to the ground.
The figure was Wang Qianya, who had secretly followed the captured Chen Shuran to this location. She had been waiting for the right moment to act, and with Tang Jie’s arrival distracting the three ancient martial arts masters, Wang Qianya seized the opportunity to rescue Chen Shuran.
“Shh, don’t speak. Go hide, and only come out when I settle everything,” Wang Qianya whispered to Chen Shuran with a reassuring smile.
“You?” Chen Shuran looked at Wang Qianya in disbelief, but seeing the determination in Wang Qianya’s eyes, she nodded her understanding.
Tang Jie heard a faint sound from behind, mistakenly thinking Chen Shuran was in trouble. He quickly moved to bypass the three ancient martial arts masters, heading towards the source of the noise.
A petite figure caught his eye-Wang Qianya, approaching him slowly. Tang Jie was puzzled by her sudden appearance but recognized her immediately as an ancient martial artist.
During a physical education class earlier, Tang Jie had sensed Wang Qianya’s strength, though he hadn’t been entirely sure about it. He intended to ask her directly but restrained himself from doing so at the time.
Seeing Wang Qianya now, Tang Jie realized that if she was an ally, that was good; however, if she were an adversary, it would be a problem.
“What… how are you here?” Tang Jie asked Wang Qianya, confused.
Wang Qianya didn’t respond. She glanced at Tang Jie and continued to walk towards him steadily.
“Watch out,” Wang Qianya shouted, appearing behind Tang Jie in an instant. With a clanging sound, her small dagger accurately blocked a sword that was aiming to ambush Tang Jie.
“We’ll talk later,” Wang Qianya said, giving Tang Jie a brief glance before turning her attention back behind her.
Hearing the commotion behind him, Tang Jie shot Wang Qianya a grateful look. His initial doubts cleared-Wang Qianya was not his enemy. This realization relieved his concerns about dealing with her in the future.
