Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 32 - Wrong-Way Driving on the Highway! Part 2
“You want to drive the wrong way on the highway?” Seeing Wei Dong’s approach, the clever Tang Jie immediately guessed the intent of these rich kids.
“Exactly! Wrong-way driving on the highway is what makes it thrilling!” Wei Dong drove up and responded to Tang Jie’s question.
“Driving the wrong way? I’m not afraid of you,” Chen Shuran, known for her stubborn nature, said as she turned her car’s head to align with the other three vehicles.
“Heh, I like your personality, Chen Shuran. Just wait and be my girlfriend! When it comes to street racing, no one has ever beaten me, Wei Dong,” he said, laughing as he looked at Chen Shuran while holding the steering wheel with one hand and the window with the other.
“Less talk!” Chen Shuran seemed provoked by Wei Dong, agreeing to such a challenge she normally wouldn’t.
A street race among rich second generations usually involves money as a bet, but using people as wagers is quite rare.
Though if Chen Shuran loses, she’d just become Wei Dong’s girlfriend, everyone in the upper-class circles knows Wei Dong is a classic playboy.
He falls for anyone at sight; calling him a philanderer wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
For Chen Shuran, it was just a momentary interest. Using a bit of wit, Wei Dong successfully provoked Chen Shuran to agree to the condition where she’d become his girlfriend if she lost the race.
For the rich second generation, street racing is a common form of entertainment. In their world, money is just a number, and material comfort no longer satisfies them or provides the thrill of life and entertainment. Therefore, they often hold street racing events from time to time.
All for the sake of finding a sense of excitement.
A bikini-clad beauty stepped out and stood in the middle of the highway, holding a white flag. She gestured toward the four luxury sports cars and shouted loudly, “The wrong-way driving on the highway race starts now!”
With that, she raised the white flag in her hand and swiftly swung it downwards. The engines of the four luxury sports cars roared to life, propelling forward like leopards, narrowly missing the bikini beauty as they sped by.
“Tang Jie, hold tight. I won’t have time to worry about you in a moment!” Chen Shuran gripped the steering wheel tightly, pushing the speed to the limit as she raced side by side with the other three sports cars.
Wrong-way driving on the highway is a dangerous stunt. On the highway, most cars travel at speeds of ninety to a hundred miles per hour, not to mention the inherent dangers of driving against traffic.
Even driving in the right direction at night can result in accidents if the driver is not fully attentive.
A highway collision could range from severe injuries to fatalities in worst-case scenarios.
Not to mention the wrong-way driving occurring now, where the four luxury sports cars reached a hundred miles per hour within seconds.
If any driver made the slightest error, they would face a head-on collision, leading to inevitable disaster.
No one could predict the number of oncoming vehicles, and this danger heightened the thrill.
“Whoosh…”
A gust of wind howled as the red Maserati quickly overtook another car also wrong-way driving.
Chen Shuran pushed the Maserati’s speed to the limit, soon overtaking two luxury sports cars.
However, she was only leading two cars for now, with a silver Porsche ahead of her, about fifteen meters apart.
No matter how much Chen Shuran accelerated, the silver Porsche maintained its distance.
“Damn it!” Frustrated at not being able to catch up to Wei Dong, Chen Shuran gritted her teeth and smacked the steering wheel, causing the Maserati to jerk unexpectedly.
“Be careful, don’t forget there’s a life in your car! I don’t want anything to happen,” Tang Jie said with a hint of complaint, casting a glance at Chen Shuran.
“Hmph!” Chen Shuran snorted softly, ignoring Tang Jie as she gripped the steering wheel tighter, her stubbornness rising.
“I refuse to believe I can’t catch up to you!”
The Maserati’s speed increased further, now reaching 110 miles per hour.
On the highway, speeding over a hundred miles per hour isn’t unusual, given the lack of traffic lights and the flat, stable road that facilitates high speeds. However, the route Chen Shuran was taking was in the wrong direction.
Racing at such a high speed would scare ordinary people out of their wits.
But Tang Jie showed no sign of fear; he remained calm, his eyes briefly glancing at Chen Shuran as he suddenly smiled. “Do you want to win?”
“Of course I do!” Chen Shuran replied urgently, without slowing down.
“Then let me drive! I promise Wei Dong won’t even see our taillights.” Tang Jie smiled slightly, speaking with a tone full of confidence.
As he said this, his face remained calm and composed, with a strong sense of assurance in his voice.
“You?” Only then did Chen Shuran slightly turn her head, looking at Tang Jie with a trace of disbelief in her eyes.
“Yes, if you want to win, let me drive!” Tang Jie nodded with a mysterious demeanor, offering no further explanation.
“Alright!” Chen Shuran gritted her teeth and made a decision, finally slowing down the Maserati.
“Whoosh…”
As the Maserati’s speed dropped slightly, two cars behind them quickly overtook, taking a clear lead.
“Damn it, switch quickly!” Chen Shuran watched in frustration as they were overtaken, dropping from second place to last, and she was anxious.
How could she not be anxious? This time, the bet wasn’t about money; losing would mean a hefty price-becoming Wei Dong’s girlfriend, a thought she found disgusting.
Recalling how Wei Dong provoked her into agreeing, Chen Shuran couldn’t help but feel angry.
