Chapter 6
In the restroom, I threw up until I thought my stomach would turn inside out, until only bitter acid came up.
I wiped the tears from my cheeks with a tissue, took a few moments to compose myself, and walked out of the cabin.
On the deck, Qu Yi blocked my path again.
It seemed she wasn’t done with me yet.
But I had no energy left to deal with her. “What do you want now?” I asked wearily. “I’m already this miserable. Aren’t you satisfied?”
She looked like a smug villain who had just won.
“Of course I want you two to divorce. The more you hurt me, the more Brother Ciyue will hate you.”
“I don’t want to be the other woman forever. So, Sister Wan Ju, please, just grant me this wish.”
As she finished speaking, she suddenly grabbed my hand, creating the illusion that I was pushing her.
At the same time, she threw herself backward.
“Brother Ciyue, help me-”
With a loud splash, she fell into the sea, screaming, “Help-”
We were in a blind spot. There was no one to witness what really happened.
Without a doubt, I had been set up again.
Soon, Jiang Ciyue, having heard the commotion, rushed over from the other side of the yacht.
By the time he pulled Qu Yi from the water, she was already unconscious.
Of course, I suspected she was faking it.
But Jiang Ciyue believed her.
His gaze toward me grew even more vicious, as if he wanted to bore holes through me with his eyes.
He grabbed me fiercely by the throat. “How can you be so venomous? I could just kill you right now!”
This was a civilized society; of course, he wasn’t actually going to kill me.
But when he shoved me away, he used all his strength.
I stumbled back, twisted my ankle, and fell to the deck.
I knew it was useless to argue, but I refused to take the blame. I looked up at him and said, “I didn’t do it. Qu Yi threw herself into the sea to frame me.”
Jiang Ciyue glared down at me, his voice seething with rage. “Yi Yi can’t swim. Why would she risk her own life to play a prank?”
“Shi Wan Ju, you do something wicked and then you don’t even have the guts to admit it. You’re pathetic.”
See?
Nothing I said mattered.
My heart seized with pain. A bitter smile formed on my lips as tears streamed uncontrollably from my eyes.
Through my blurry vision, I saw Jiang Ciyue carrying Qu Yi and rushing away.
I sat there on the deck, a pathetic, helpless mess.
After a while, I pushed myself up and limped toward the exit.
Just as I was about to disembark, a force pushed me from behind.
The next second, I was plunging into the sea.
On the yacht, Qu Yi’s friends were laughing.
“Before Mr. Jiang took Yi Yi to the hospital, he specifically told us to give you a taste of your own medicine!”
Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t swim either.
I didn’t want to die. I struggled desperately, but my body kept sinking.
In the moment I was about to suffocate, I suddenly remembered when I was 18 and accidentally fell into a swimming pool.
Jiang Ciyue had been frantic, swimming to me as fast as he could and pulling me ashore.
Afterward, he warned me over and over, “If I hadn’t been there, you could have died. Stay away from deep water from now on.”
The person who saved my life back then now wanted me dead.
How ironic life could be.
A wave of regret washed over me.
Regret for ever falling in love with Jiang Ciyue.
If only I had never met him.
