Cycle of Death - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
511’s message came through immediately: “What just happened? Was that you?”
I replied honestly: “Yes, I called the number from the video, and it turns out it really was taken away.”
“Then that matches my suspicion. Quick, look at the group chat! He’s starting his tricks! He’s going to send people to their deaths!” 511 dropped the sentence in a rush.
I switched chat windows back to the group, only to find 503 prattling on at length:
“Since the Police Officers are on their side, it means stalling is useless. We only have two options: escape the dorm or kill them.
“To achieve this goal, someone will definitely have to die.
“I suggest prioritizing 404 and 312, who haven’t joined the group, to be the sacrifices. Any objections?
“You all heard the ringtone just now, right? I don’t know what happened, but I advise you not to be curious.
“Because it’s highly likely one of their tricks – a trick to lure us into exposing our positions.
“Also, if none of you are close with 404 or 312, I’m going to start explaining my plan.
“I’ve been keeping in touch with them via private messages. I can trick them into becoming bait, but I’ll need your help.”
Only then did I realize that this was the real reason those two hadn’t joined the group.
Just then, 511 fired off a question: “Don’t be in such a hurry. Why don’t you tell us how you knew in advance that someone was going to kill us? And what is their motive?”
This was the question all three of us wanted to figure out.
It was also the biggest reason why 511 and I suspected him.
But to my surprise, his explanation was: “Because you told me, @511.”
Never mind 511 himself – even I was startled.
What kind of development was this?
“Nonsense! Absolute rubbish!” 511 denied it immediately, as he had been using that very point to question 503.
503 began to explain point by point: “Did you forget? During dinner, you brought your lunchbox over to my room to eat with me, and then you started rambling to me… You don’t remember at all?”
511 continued to deny it: “Bullshit! I ate dinner by myself in my room!”
“Furthermore, you told me that I could only speak up when you asked me why I knew so much inside information. That’s why I ignored everyone else’s questions and only answered when you asked!”
503 continued to talk incessantly: “Otherwise, how do you explain tonight’s message, ‘Don’t turn on the lights! He’s checking which rooms are occupied!’? I never sent that to you, so how did you know there was a killer?”
511 seemed to have finally caught a loophole and said, “Heh, caught you, didn’t I? I almost really thought I’d eaten with you. You’re lying. If you don’t believe me, everyone, look at this.”
But 503 also spoke up: “Fortunately, I took a photo at the time. Look at this.”
Then, both of them posted images in the group simultaneously.
503 posted a photo of the food. In the picture, besides his own lunchbox, he had also captured the person next to him – it was 503!
Meanwhile, 511 posted a screenshot of a chat log. It was his chat history with 503, and it clearly showed that 503 had indeed sent him that warning message!
“?????”
“?????”
Both of them sent a long string of question marks at the same time.
“I absolutely did not eat dinner with you!”
“I also absolutely never sent that message to you!”
I was completely bewildered.
And while these two were at a standoff, 308 sent me a private message.
He said something even more terrifying:
“Is it possible that both of them are already dead, and their phones are in the killer’s hands?”
