Crybaby vs. Yandere - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Jiang Yilin’s legal battle dragged on for several months.
In the end, the sentence was light: three months in prison with a one-year probation.
Under the balancing act of various powers, the result was one that left people feeling helpless.
On the day the verdict was announced, I sat in the courtyard of my home, soaking in the sun.
It suddenly occurred to me that those bullet comments hadn’t appeared for a very long time.
The last time I saw them… I tried to recall slowly. It seemed to be back when I was still being held captive by Jiang Yilin.
At that time, the bullet comments were filled with question marks and shocked exclamation points.
Finally, someone left a string of ellipses and said: [Well, another world is ruined.]
I hadn’t been in the mood to pay attention back then.
Only now did I realize that since that day, the invisible pressure looming over this entire world seemed to have suddenly dissipated.
The plot had collapsed.
The world had regained its freedom; there were no longer fixed male and female leads or a rigid plot progression.
I looked at my brother, who was watering flowers in the courtyard.
He was no longer the one labeled as the so-called “villain,” destined for a tragic end.
His existence was no longer merely a catalyst to prove the depth of the leads’ relationship.
Even his actions were exceptionally honorable; he had used the law as a weapon to deal with Jiang Yilin.
He was simply himself.
My brother, it seemed, had finally obtained true freedom as well.
Only Jiang Yilin had not.
His extremism was etched into his very bones.
Less than two months after starting university, I saw him once again.
That was the first time I had seen him since the incident.
He had lost a lot of weight.
Despite the sweltering summer heat, he wore black clothes and a hat.
Seeing him, I took a wary step back.
“I won’t hurt you,” Jiang Yilin said, standing still. His voice was hoarse and low.
He continued, “My parents sent me to a psychiatric hospital abroad.”
He pulled up his sleeve, showing me the needle marks on his arm.
“I missed you too much, so I escaped to find you.” He stared at me intently, his eyes wide.
Whether it was the influence of those years spent “chasing” him or the month I spent locked away by him, hearing him say such things made my heart ache uncontrollably.
“I know your love for me was fake,” Jiang Yilin said. “…But my love for you is real.”
“I will become normal-”
He fell silent for a long time before speaking again. “Even if I only look normal, I will come back for you.”
At the end of that day, Jiang Yilin took a gentle step back.
He said to me, “Huo Zhiyan, I will come back for you.”
Then, he vanished completely from my world.
Five years later, I was representing my company to negotiate a partnership.
In the revolving restaurant on the 28th floor, I waited punctually for the young CEO who had just returned from overseas.
The young CEO wore a suit, and the gaze he lifted toward me was very gentle.
He was the first to take the initiative, reaching out his hand. “Ms. Huo.”
His gaze was deep, so deep it felt like he was looking into the depths of my soul.
Then he flashed a smile and softly finished his sentence: “It really has been… a long time.”
Before I left, my superior had repeatedly warned me not to offend this young CEO, who turned out to be incredibly patient.
I froze for a moment before reaching out to shake his hand.
The man before me simply waited quietly.
Only when I raised my hand did he instantly break into a wide smile, gently clasping my hand in his.
