Chapter 8
Gu Haochen shouldn’t be courting death like this.
I watched him stand in the garden with a pale face, listening to the old lady, fine beads of sweat seeping from his temples. I really wanted to suggest he go back and rest for a while.
But as soon as I took two steps forward, he noticed my movement, and his venomous gaze shot over.
So obsessed with saving face, he just suffers for it.
The old lady saw that I didn’t look well and said considerately, “Actually, today you two should have had a good rest, but Linghua just returned to the country and insisted on seeing you.”
The expression on Gu Haochen’s face relaxed, and he unconsciously revealed a light, cheerful smile.
“Linghua, huh.”
My heart sank.
Crap, what kind of drama is this now?
Just then, a distant call of “cousin” rang out, and a petite figure quickly rushed over from not far away. Gu Haochen turned around, instinctively opened his arms, and that figure leapt up in a comic-book pose, about to pounce into Gu Haochen’s arms amid the swirling petals.
That pounce might just tear Gu Haochen apart.
I reacted quickly, stepping between the newcomer and Gu Haochen, and extended my arm in a friendly gesture for a handshake.
“Hello.”
The newcomer was a fair-skinned, delicate-looking Little Omega. Seeing my outstretched hand, he didn’t shake it, just stopped, his lively big eyes darting around before he looked at me in surprise. “Who are you?”
“I’m Du Zhizhu.”
“Oh, you’re the Alpha my cousin married to have children with,” the Little Omega said, seemingly innocent and carefree.
“Linghua!” Gu Haochen scolded, but didn’t deny it.
The Little Omega called Linghua looked pleased, glaring at me.
I withdrew my hand and stepped aside. He happily bounded over to Gu Haochen in three quick steps, throwing his arms around Gu Haochen’s neck.
“Haochen!”
His slender frame, barely a hundred jin, made Gu Haochen’s face go pale as he hung on him.
Gu Haochen still had to play along, holding his waist and spinning him around three times. By the time he set him down, his thighs were trembling.
Serves him right.
As soon as Linghua landed, he clung to Gu Haochen’s arm. “Haochen, didn’t you say you only wanted Tangtang? Didn’t you say you’d withstand the world’s scrutiny, never marry, and remember Tangtang with me forever?”
The old lady’s face darkened. “Linghua, you’re getting more and more out of line with your words. Your Great-Grandmother said not to indulge you anymore. If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll send you back to Country F.”
“Grandma~”
The old lady scolded Linghua, while Linghua clung to Gu Haochen’s arm and acted spoiled. Gu Haochen looked down at Linghua, his gaze doting.
The three of them looked so harmonious, making me feel a bit out of place.
Still dazed, I saw Linghua shoot me a sideways glance, then rest his head on Gu Haochen’s arm, giving me a triumphant look.
Oh…
So he’s a “straight-talking little darling.”
I gave him a friendly smile, thinking, how nice, that’s another Twenty Million.
