Chapter 39
I didn’t get to see the old lady one last time. I wasn’t allowed to enter the Gu Family villa again.
Gu Haochen’s lawyer brought me the divorce papers.
I requested to discuss the divorce with Gu Haochen in person; I wouldn’t sign unless I met him.
The lawyer made a phone call, then led me into Gu Haochen’s company.
It was still the president’s office. Gu Haochen seemed determined to erase any trace of childbirth from himself; he hadn’t even done his confinement period. His face was pale, dressed in a suit and tie, sitting straight-backed behind his desk, still that same business elite, hands clasped, looking at me coldly.
But behind him, there was now a crib. Inside the gauzy canopy, a tiny figure was waving its arms and legs.
For a moment, I didn’t know how to begin.
“Didn’t expect you’d actually give birth.”
“One Hundred Billion.” Gu Haochen sneered, “I wouldn’t give up for your sake.”
I nodded and asked, “Did you have the old lady change her will?”
“Yes. She wanted a child so badly. I brought the lawyer to her sickbed for notarization; her entire estate is designated for me alone. You’re out of the picture.”
I guessed Gu Haochen had wanted to say this to me for a long time.
He looked arrogant, as if he’d been holding back for over a month, just waiting for today to turn the tables, to watch me come up empty-handed, to see me utterly defeated.
He wanted to mock my insignificant revenge and my hypocritical sense of justice.
He wanted me to know he hadn’t lost anything. Whether it was Tangtang or me, neither could shake him.
But he didn’t understand-I was never in it for justice.
An Alpha, and also a bearer, my enemy, yet he’d given birth to my bloodline. He didn’t know how indescribable it was for me to see him sitting there like that.
“You’d better not do this,” I gently advised him. “We had an agreement before-seven for you, three for me.”
He curled his lip: “Get out.”
So I lunged at him, grabbed the back of his head in front of the lawyer, and kissed him viciously.
He was stunned, because he saw me bare my teeth, eight showing, my smile twisting the muscles on my face.
I told him, “It’s not over yet.”
