Chapter 22
For the next half month, I stayed at the Gu Family home to recover from my injuries, and Gu Haochen didn’t pull any more tricks.
The old lady was very satisfied with the way Gu Haochen and I were getting along now. She told me that I looked like someone blessed with good fortune, and that although Gu Haochen liked to play around, he still cared about me deep down.
Her purse strings loosened, and Gu Haochen’s company received several hundred million in working capital, gradually regaining some vitality.
Putting aside his private life, Gu Haochen was actually quite attractive when he was focused on work. When I got up at night for a drink of water, I would often see him in the study or on the living room sofa, brows furrowed as he dealt with documents-just like those career-driven good men you see in TV dramas.
And whenever he noticed me standing there, he would look up, meet my gaze, and give me a smile.
Speaking of which, he transferred the Forty Million to me, and even casually gave me a watch as a gift.
That really surprised me.
He would occasionally ask about how my wounds were healing, and sometimes he would even help relax the stiff muscles around my injuries, his actions showing a bit of possessiveness and intimacy.
He was back to being at ease again.
