Chapter 2
Gu Haochen had a White Moonlight named Tangtang. After that moonlight fell, he found more than a dozen substitutes, all at the same time.
As for me, Du Zhizhu, I have a habit of collecting beauties. Triple Best Actor Alpha, I change partners in the circle every other week-whether Omega or Beta, cold beauties or boy-next-door types, never repeating the same style.
He and I are the most notorious top-tier playboys in the Shangjing circle, and also arch-enemies.
We used to avoid each other at all costs, until a marriage contract dropped out of the blue.
Gu Haochen’s Grandma was diagnosed with a blood disease; the doctor said she could last at most another year and a half before passing away.
No one knows what got into the old lady of the Gu Family, but she made a will, leaving the entire hundred-billion inheritance to me and Gu Haochen, on the condition that the two of us get married and have a child.
Yes, you read that right-me and Gu Haochen, two Alphas, getting married and having a child.
What a joke.
But as soon as the news got out, my dad dragged me back from a party with my rowdy friends and solemnly told me that after letting me do as I pleased for twenty-five years, it was time for me to contribute to the family.
The only reason I could get away with my messy private life and still thrive in the circle was because I was the Du Family’s son-my dad had my back.
Now my dad said if I didn’t agree, he’d blacklist me.
All my schedules were canceled, the roles I’d secured were given to others, I had to quit the variety shows I was filming, even my endorsements were dropped.
My agent was sent off to Europe for a two-year paid vacation, and my assistant tearfully accepted a two-million severance package, wishing me twins in three years.
I drove to a bar to complain to my spicy little confidante, had a few cocktails, and when it was time to pay, I found even my cards were frozen-it was my confidante who picked up the tab.
I lowered my noble head and obeyed my father’s arrangement, going to meet Gu Haochen.
Gu Haochen’s situation was no better than mine.
His company had just hit a major crisis; if he went bankrupt, he wouldn’t even have the means to keep his little white lotus.
So he sat there with a sour face, and the two of us stared at each other in the café downstairs from his company.
I wanted to improve our relationship, had just managed a smile, when he cut me off.
“Fake marriage. Once we get the inheritance, we divorce. No interfering in each other’s lives during the marriage. I’ll give you five billion.”
I pretended to smile. “Without me, it all goes to charity.”
“Seventy-thirty split, no more.”
“Deal.”
Gu Haochen took me to see the old lady. For some reason, she liked me a lot, holding my hand and looking me up and down, even giving my butt a pat.
My eyebrow twitched; Gu Haochen looked on with glee.
The old lady asked how I felt about the marriage. I said I was very much looking forward to it.
“Well then…” the old lady asked kindly, “have you two decided who’s going to have the child?”
Gu Haochen and I spoke in unison: “He is.”
Then we both froze and looked at each other.
I looked at him-sword-like brows, starry eyes, straight nose, thin lips, a cold and chiseled face, extremely handsome and even more heartless.
He looked at me-feminine features on a man, a pair of peach blossom eyes sparkling with mischief, pink lips curved in a smile before I even spoke, a faint mole on my lower lip, always able to make people’s hearts race.
Again, Gu Haochen and I said in unison: “He is.”
The old lady clapped her hands and laughed, saying we were in perfect sync.
After that, she hinted that we should sort out our pasts, focus on the marriage, and work on cultivating our relationship as husbands.
Then, half-jokingly, she proposed:
Whoever can’t give up their playboy ways will be the one to have the child, or pay the other Twenty Million.
-See? There’s the Twenty Million.
