Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 25
I had been preparing this gift for half a year.
To be honest, it was nothing more than a collection of small items brimming with my emotions.
Couple keychains, couple mugs, couple slippers.
A scarf and gloves I knitted myself, a handmade wallet.
Some of these had already been given to him, while others had never found the right moment to be handed over.
I love traveling, but he doesn’t. Still, I always wanted to share the beauty I encountered along the way with him, so every time I visited a new place, I would buy a local postcard.
On the postcards, I would ramble on about the scenery and my longing for him.
I sent him a few of them, but each time, he would casually toss them aside, and in the end, I would be the one to collect them back.
These postcards and little trinkets were the evidence of those years when I loved him.
Finally, I wrote him a letter.
This letter had been polished for six months. It began with “I used to love you very much” and ended with “But this is where the love stops.”
I wanted him to understand: in this relationship, he had always been the one who owed me.
Even if it was over, I wanted him to feel guilty, a guilt that would linger forever.
I packed everything into a cardboard box and handed it over to Zhou Jingnan, who was waiting downstairs by the dormitory.
He looked at the items, most of which were familiar to him, and fell silent, unsure of what to do.
I stared at him steadily, my tone flat and devoid of emotion. “These are all for you. I don’t want them anymore.”
And you-I don’t want you anymore either.
