Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 1
After breaking up with Zhou Jingnan, I swiftly blocked him on WeChat1 and his phone number.
It still didn’t feel like enough. Five minutes later, I posted a piece of melodramatic, heartbreak-themed youth literature on my WeChat Moments.
“Every girl wishes to receive flowers and roses. Every girl deserves to be cherished. Every girl wants someone to always take her side. Every girl should have someone who comes just for her. No one is born loving to wait.”
It was as non-mainstream as it could possibly get.
My roommate on the lower bunk saw me looking as if I’d lost my soul. She was so frightened she didn’t dare make a sound, quietly grabbing her textbook and slipping out of the dormitory like a little mouse.
I skipped a night self-study session and slept like the dead in the dormitory. The next morning, when I turned on my phone, the notifications didn’t stop for a full five minutes. They were mostly high school classmates probing for gossip about me and Zhou Jingnan, as well as some university classmates, student union members, and acquaintances from various clubs sending their condolences.
I replied to a few close friends, sorted by how close we were, and was just about to delete the rest of those annoying chat windows when I saw a uniquely intriguing message.
