Chapter 8
He first took Jiang Yuqing home.
Then the car finally stopped at my doorstep.
“Let’s break up.”
The dampness outside the car window seeped into my eyes.
When I uttered those words, my vision was hazy.
He held me back, refusing to let me get out of the car, insisting on a reason.
We met through a blind date, dated for three years, and the wedding date was set.
Everything was falling into place, just one step away.
He wanted a reasonable explanation.
I asked him, “Which do you think is more important, being suitable or being in love?”
He didn’t hesitate: “Being suitable.”
Suddenly, my nose tingled, and my voice finally choked:
“Why can’t both be important?”
I read something online:
[Stable emotions and intense love cannot coexist.]
[Because love never makes people rational.]
He understood the meaning behind my words, but he couldn’t answer.
He could only choose silence.
So I answered for him:
“Because love makes people lose their minds, while marriage seeks stability.”
“Xu Siyan, I hate your rationality, I hate my suitability.”
I got out of the car and walked towards the house step by step.
Suddenly, I remembered a time when she made a fuss about breaking up.
She had walked less than five steps before he hugged her from behind.
That time he choked up, begging her not to leave.
She said on social media:
“The one who truly loves you won’t let you leave easily.”
I slowed my pace.
Moving step by step.
In that short distance, it felt like I had walked a lifetime.
I walked a lifetime without any obstacles.
