Chapter 2
“Honey?”
The sofa beside me sank, accompanied by Jiang Du’s deep voice, “Didn’t you say you were hungry a long time ago?”
He ruffled my hair, seemingly unsatisfied, and pinched my cheek.
“What happened? Tell your husband, and he’ll give you some advice.”
I looked at him steadily, forcibly suppressing the emotions in my heart.
“Jiang Du, I’m going to ask you a few questions. You can’t think, you must answer within one second.”
He was slightly startled, raising an eyebrow, “So formal? Not even calling me Honey.”
“How many years have we known each other?”
Without hesitation, he replied, “Twenty-three years.”
“How many years have we been together?”
“Twelve years.”
“Married–”
He answered quickly, “Eight years.”
“Speaking of which, we safely passed the rumored seven-year itch.”
Seeing the smug smile on his face, I couldn’t help but recall what Chen Yao had just said, that she had been Jiang Du’s lover for a year.
I lowered my eyes and continued to ask, “What did you say when you proposed to me?”
“This lifetime, I will only love you.” He answered swiftly.
“Have you fallen in love with someone else?”
He hesitated for a moment, “No.”
“Where exactly did you go last Saturday?”
The air was momentarily stagnant.
He raised the corner of his eye, and at this moment, Jiang Du looked at me with an exploratory, inquisitive gaze, carefully scrutinizing me.
“Honey, did someone say something to you?”
I met his gaze for a few seconds, then smiled, “No.”
“Just joking. Let’s eat.”
