- Chapter 13 - Song Yu Was Called Away by Nian Hua
I stood there awkwardly, legs tightly pressed together, not daring to move.
Song Yu buttoned his shirt cuffs, turned around, and looked at me. “What are you standing there for?”
Embarrassed, I shuffled my feet, my face turning crimson. “I’ll… I’ll go later.”
Song Yu’s gaze dropped, fixing on my knotted legs, then he left the bedroom directly. “I’ll be waiting for you at the restaurant on the third floor.”
Song Yu, that… beast in human clothing.
He’s simply not human.
I cursed Song Yu thoroughly in front of the mirror.
But then again, he did pay for it, so he definitely wants to get his money’s worth.
Although Song Yu never directly mentioned what the five hundred thousand after each encounter was for, I’m not stupid; some things are clear enough without saying.
This is the maximum respect he can give me in this transaction.
Thinking of this, the anger in my chest dissipated quite a bit.
I had to admit, the emotions of young people are so fleeting.
Not wanting to keep Song Yu waiting too long, I quickly freshened up. Looking at the refreshed and handsome young man in the mirror, I seemed to finally find a bit of the feeling of being alive.
When I reached the third-floor restaurant, I easily spotted Song Yu among the many diners.
He was sitting by the window, leisurely crossing his legs, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and a newspaper in the other, taking a sip of coffee, flipping a page, adjusting his glasses-all done in one smooth motion, naturally elegant.
If I didn’t know his wolfish nature without the glasses, I might have been fooled by his appearance.
I quickly walked over to Song Yu and sat down on the sofa opposite him. As soon as my bottom touched the leather, I let out a small “ouch” and bounced up immediately.
Song Yu noticed my discomfort and signaled to a nearby waiter.
The waiter promptly came over to ask if we needed any assistance.
Song Yu glanced at me and said, “Could you bring a cushion over?”
The waiter nodded and left.
I stood beside the sofa, face flushed, not knowing where to hide my embarrassment.
Song Yu looked at me sternly. “If it hurts, just say it hurts. Why pretend?”
I felt a bit guilty at his words, but then he added, “Your body is your own; you need to protect and use it well, understand?”
Ha, understand? I understand your nonsense.
Whose fault is it that I’m like this? And now he acts all concerned, as if it’s my fault for not taking care of myself.
“After breakfast, go back to your room and lie down. You can’t go out like this,” Song Yu said coldly, continuing to read his newspaper.
“I can!” I gritted my teeth and sat down hard on the sofa.
Even if I can’t, his mockery will make me able.
Just then, the waiter came over with a thick cushion. I glanced at it secretly but kept a nonchalant expression, taking a big bite of the toast in front of me.
Whether it was psychological or not, I felt like even chewing made my backside hurt.
How could it hurt so much?
I subtly straightened up, trying to minimize contact between my bottom and the sofa.
Song Yu nodded to the waiter, instructing, “Put it under him.”
Though I said I didn’t need it, my bottom honestly lifted up because it hurt too much. In just two minutes, the area near my tailbone went numb.
Song Yu glanced at me with a faint smile, then continued reading his newspaper.
I was particularly annoyed by his look, as if he were watching a naive, ignorant child.
“President Song, can I ask you a personal question?”
I really wanted to know Song Yu’s age. He looked just over thirty, yet seemed more mature than my dad.
“No,” Song Yu replied without even looking up.
I reluctantly said “oh” and focused on eating my breakfast.
Just then, Song Yu’s phone rang, the ringtone being “A Thousand Farewell Songs.” It reminded me of the first night I drank with Song Yu, when this song played on loop in the private room.
I had thought it was just a random choice by Song Yu, but it turned out to be his ringtone.
Song Yu hesitated for a moment, then answered the call.
Though I couldn’t hear what was being said, Song Yu’s expression suggested it was something serious.
Suddenly, he scoffed coldly, “Do you think you can still bargain with me?”
Whatever the other person said, Song Yu’s face darkened, and he angrily retorted, “You dare!” He then said “hello” a few times, clearly the other side had hung up.
His face grew even darker, and those black eyes, even with glasses, couldn’t hide the anger filled with red veins.
I was scared to breathe, witnessing Song Yu’s anger for the first time. His tone didn’t seem like business talk.
To provoke Song Yu into losing his composure and even dare to hang up on him, it must be someone formidable.
For some reason, I suddenly thought of that man named Nian Hua from last night.
Could it be him?
Song Yu stared at the busy signal on the phone for a moment, then abruptly stood up and said to me, “I have to go. After you finish eating, go back and rest. Don’t wander around, understand?”
I obediently said “oh” and continued focusing on my breakfast.
Song Yu said nothing more and walked towards the restaurant exit.
I confirmed with my peripheral vision that Song Yu had left, then took out my phone to call Fan Lu.
I’ve already come out, going back to sleep would be a waste of good time.
Calculating the time, Fan Lu should be awake. He’s been wanting to buy the latest Apple phone and AJ12 sneakers but always hesitates to purchase.
I don’t have many friends, and Fan Lu is my best one. Now that I have money, I must fulfill his wishes.
But after calling three times, no one answered.
Strange, it’s already past eleven, and Lu is usually up by now, looking for food.
Could he have drunk too much last night?
Worried, I called Jiang Chenyang, who was in the same group as Lu. When I’m not around, Lu likes to hang out with him.
Jiang Chenyang answered with a sleepy voice.
I politely said, “Chenyang, it’s Bai Yu. I’ve called Lu several times, but he didn’t answer. Did he drink too much last night?”
Jiang Chenyang yawned and said, “No, he was beaten by a guest and sent to the hospital. He probably didn’t answer to avoid worrying you.”
…
I was instantly stunned.
