Chapter 24
A century later, I forged a new Lotus Lamp in the valley.
Though not as potent as the one from my past life, and no longer able to aid in cultivation breakthroughs, it was still of great help against the plagues and diseases of the mortal realm.
In those chaotic times, barely one in ten infants survived. But after the lamp’s appearance, that number rose to seven or eight.

I was instantly flustered. In my joy, I had completely forgotten my disguise.
“Oh, big sister, don’t cry!” the little boy said, quickly reaching out to wipe away my tears. “There are good ghosts and bad ghosts, you know.”
“You have such beautiful eyes, you must be a good ghost.”
“You can call me Jay. What’s your name, big sister?”
