Chapter 14
Before long, the grand force assembled for the siege reached the mountain summit.
“Amitabha.”
Following the resonant chant of the Buddha’s name, Zen Master Du’e of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Sect spoke with compassion,
“Jay, the Jade Pond Peak Master accuses you of murdering the Sect Leader and slaughtering the Peak Masters of eleven fellow peaks. Do you admit to these charges?”
From the phoenix carriage, the tone of Bixia, the Sect Leader of the Jade Pond Immortal Sect, was far less courteous:
“And what about our chief disciple Lynn? Did she also die by your hand?”
“Indeed,” Jay stood with his hands behind his back, “Wasn’t it the Jade Pond Peak Master whom I deliberately let go to inform you all?”
His attitude was so nonchalant.
Zen Master Du’e frowned:
“Jay, your Spiritual Root is exceptionally gifted, and you could have achieved great spiritual attainment. Yet, having committed such heinous crimes, you show no remorse. Do not blame us for enforcing the sect alliance’s punishment upon you.”
“Why do you dare not discuss the reason for my killing the Sect Leader before punishing me? Could it be that even the Zen Master harbors guilt in his heart?”
At these words, the crowd was incensed, shouting:
“Zen Master, then debate with him, let him die with clarity!”
“Isn’t it all about the Yun Family’s demoness? She crafted an evil artifact, sacrificing living people. She brought this upon herself, and I want to see what argument you have!”
Bixia snorted coldly, her feathered robe fluttering as she was the first to ascend Tianxu Terrace.
The other Sect Leaders, elders, and Peak Masters followed closely behind.
Jay slowly surveyed the crowd as if taking attendance:
“Very well, everyone is here.”
