Chapter 11
I slowly walked to the center of the great hall, a crimson silk ribbon slipping out from my sleeve.
Back then, after Seductress Ghost elder sister killed the heartless Buddha’s disciple, her wish was fulfilled. Her two thousand years of cultivation transformed into this emotionless long ribbon. I then refined the Buddha disciple’s spine into the ribbon, thus obtaining this weapon–
Wangchuan.
Qing Xuan’s long eyes narrowed, and he said something rather strange:
“Unexpectedly, with a mere four hundred years of cultivation, you’ve refined such a divine weapon.”
As his words fell, the Yin energy in the hall surged, ghostly aura overflowing.
In the blink of an eye, Wangchuan and Qing Xuan’s twin blades had already clashed hundreds of times. The idling ghosts watching were all forced out of the hall by the overwhelming aura, and gradually I began to fall into disadvantage, a slash marking my arm.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jay frown, taking two steps toward me.
I pressed my lips together. With the special combined power from three years of dual cultivation with the strongest swordmaster of the Nine Provinces, plus Wangchuan’s divine might and my own talent, I shouldn’t be too far behind Qing Xuan.
I focused, merging several streams of power into one, channeling them into Wangchuan.
Sure enough, I forced Qing Xuan back half a step!
My spirits soared, and I glanced again in Jay’s direction.
But in that instant, I was startled–Jay was no longer there!
At the same time, opposite me, Qing Xuan’s figure blurred and he had returned to the throne:
“Little ghost, don’t bother looking. Jay has already left.”
I stood frozen, unable to comprehend his words:
“Left? Where? But I’m still here?”
“Why aren’t you fighting anymore? We haven’t decided on the new Ghost King.”
“Don’t you understand? He went to avenge Miss Yunxi, leaving you here with me.”
After speaking, Qing Xuan swept his twin blades, and a Netherflame Array rose within the hall, instantly enveloping me.
I was stunned for a moment, then suddenly gathered all my strength and charged toward the edge of the array:
“No! He brought me here to become the Ghost King, and then we would go seek revenge together!”
“He would never leave me behind–”
I was violently thrown back by the array, but immediately scrambled up and crashed against it again without hesitation,
“You liar! Let me out!”
“Jay is the real liar.”
Qing Xuan looked at me with eyes that were almost pitying,
“He tricked you into coming here, not to make you the Ghost King, but because only I can trap you.”
“He never intended to take you to fight against the sects of the Nine Provinces. Dual cultivating with you was to strengthen you, so that if he didn’t survive, there would be someone in the future who could protect you.”
“Now, indeed, no one in the yin or yang realms can easily control you. Little ghost, don’t let him down. Stay here quietly. When Jay has settled his grievances with those sect clans, I will naturally let you out.”
