Chapter 2
The day I agreed to the divorce, it was an ordinary afternoon.
I dialed Zhou Jingcheng’s number, but it was Lin Manman who answered.
“Hello?”
“I’m looking for Zhou Jingcheng.”
“He’s in the shower. If there’s anything, you can tell me.”
Her voice was as charming and fearless as ever.
There was a faint hint of claiming territory and boasting.
In the past, I would have definitely screamed, hysterically demanding Lin Manman to get lost, insisting on speaking to Zhou Jingcheng.
But now, I knew very well that only Lin Manman could reach Zhou Jingcheng.
I couldn’t let her hang up on me like before.
Leaving me alone like a madwoman.
“He mentioned divorce before, didn’t he? I agreed.”
I calmly conveyed what I needed to say.
On the other end, Lin Manman was silent for a second, incredulously repeating the question.
“You agreed to the divorce?”
“Yes.”
As soon as I finished speaking.
There was a rustling sound.
The phone must have been handed over to Zhou Jingcheng.
Soon, his deep and indifferent voice sounded in my ear.
“It’s me.”
I knew.
Hearing his voice, I felt a bit dazed.
After all, since he moved out of the villa to be with Lin Manman half a year ago.
We hadn’t been in contact.
The last thing he said to me was:
“Shen Yue, we are getting a divorce. If you don’t agree, I will separate from you and then file a lawsuit.”
Now, half a year later, I had compromised.
“Manman said you want a divorce?”
Seeing my silence, Zhou Jingcheng asked first.
He must have said this with a frown, his tone carrying a hint of confusion.
I didn’t understand where his confusion came from.
Wasn’t it he who mentioned the divorce?
But now I didn’t want to get entangled with Zhou Jingcheng over who brought it up.
I responded with a hum.
Telling him, “If you have time, let’s meet and sign the divorce agreement.”
After saying that, I hung up the phone.
