Chapter 16

Chapter 16

November arrived quickly.

Sister Fang arranged for me to join a film crew.

I was playing a minor role with very little screen time-I didn’t even have any lines. To put it bluntly, I was just an extra.

However, it allowed me to experience the complex inner workings of a production firsthand and observe how the actors worked from a close distance.

Of course, as a complete nobody, being ignored, ridiculed, and looked down upon was only to be expected.

It didn’t matter.

If you don’t have the ability to earn a living standing up, then you have to learn how to bend your back.

During this time, I also heard bits and pieces of news from West City.

Shen Jincheng was under investigation.

After the high school semester started, the West City Bureau of Education received an anonymous whistle-blower letter. The letter alleged that Shen Jincheng, a teacher at No. 1 High School, was involved in an improper relationship with his student, Bai Hezhi.

The Education Bureau immediately ordered No. 1 High School to conduct an internal investigation.

Upon verification, the allegations were proven true.

Shortly after, the news of my divorce from Shen Jincheng spread like wildfire. People began to suspect that Shen Yuqing was actually the daughter of Shen Jincheng and Bai Hezhi.

The two of them adamantly denied it.

They only admitted to starting their relationship after the college entrance exams. By then, he had already divorced Xu Chunyan, and Bai Hezhi had graduated and was an adult.

Could the Education Bureau really control everything, including people’s romantic lives and marriages?

That being said, a relationship between a teacher and a former female student still carried a terrible stigma. Because Shen Jincheng had previously mentored several students who got into top-tier universities, the school had originally planned to appoint him as the Grade Group Leader for the new semester.

Once this scandal broke, Shen Jincheng’s reputation was dragged through the mud. Those who had past grudges or were jealous of him came out of the woodwork, filing reports to kick him while he was down.

Ultimately, after several rounds of discussion between the Education Bureau and the school, it was decided that all of Shen Jincheng’s work at No. 1 High School would be suspended.

Shen Jincheng desperately pulled every string he could, even finding a few former students to testify on his behalf, and finally managed to keep his job. However, he was transferred to a middle school in a remote rural township. Returning to the provincial capital in the future would now be harder than climbing to the heavens.

For Shen Jincheng, this was a fate more painful than death.

But it didn’t matter; he had his beloved girl to accompany him. I heard they were already engaged.

That was fine. I hoped they stayed locked together forever.

Six months passed in the blink of an eye. Finally, my temporary contract expired.

It was also time for Lu Junrong to evaluate me.
