Chapter 8
The next stop was the Malayan Sun Bear Enclosure.
Because their behavior is so human-like, Malayan Sun Bears are often mistaken for people in disguise.
Even as a special forces travel blogger who’s always running around, I was starting to feel worn out here.
I figured I’d look for another Little Blue Cart.
To my surprise, there was someone at the ticket booth.
Well, not exactly someone-a pitch-black, shapeless Soul.
I quickly pulled my leg back.
It’s not like I absolutely had to take the cart anyway.
I started to back away, but the ticket booth “person” rushed out.
It was a Malayan Sun Bear.
Standing upright, it waved at me, “Come on, let’s have some fun!”
It looked just like one of those kiddie rides by the street.
Hard to refuse such enthusiasm.
Besides, it’s not like I could run away.
So I went over.
It pointed at the rickety sightseeing cart and said, “Five hundred for half an hour, adult fare.”
The prices in the Yin Realm(the Underworld) are honestly outrageous.
I pulled out five bills and handed them to him:
“One hour, please, Brother Bear.”
Brother Bear was super friendly, even teaching me how to drive:
“First do this, then this, then that, and you’re good to go.
“Oh, by the way, the bears inside aren’t as easygoing as me, so watch out.”
I wanted to ask Shan Yuan for advice.
Bullet comments:
“This bear is so cute, aww, I want to keep one!”
“You’re something else, that’s a protected animal.”
“Are we sure that’s not just a guy in a bear suit?”
Just then, my Junior Brother, who had disappeared for a bit, popped back up. “Consultation fee: eight hundred.”
Me: “Where’d you go just now? Why are you back with such a grudge?”
Shan Yuan: “Master called him over to draw Talismans. One hundred of them. One hundred New Talismans are ready for sale, Little Blue Cart link number one.”
Running for my life all night was bad enough, but seeing someone else succeed just made it worse.
I spent the night escaping; he spent the night selling Talismans.
I grimaced. “I can’t even imagine how much you’re making.”
“Coward, I can imagine,” someone chimed in.
He chuckled. “Qingtian Temple doesn’t make that many Talismans-maybe a million or so.”
That made me feel even worse.
“So, what are the rules for the Bear Enclosure?”
He said, “There are no rules.”
I wanted to laugh, but I had a feeling it wouldn’t be that simple.
Junior Brother burst out laughing. “If you can get out, you’re a legend.”
Me: “…”
True heartbreak isn’t about yelling or making a scene-it’s just cold and silent.
