chapter 6
Chapter 6
I successfully left the Peacock Enclosure.
The next destination was the Elephant Enclosure.
I felt utterly exhausted.
Not in the mood to play at all.
Junior Brother said, “The lines are getting tiring, so I’ll get straight to the point. This time, buy two get one free.”
A sense of foreboding welled up inside me.
Why are these ridiculous rules multiplying?
[Haha… haha… haha… the streamer’s expression is hilarious.]
[Sending one yuan to help the streamer clear the stage.]
[I’ll add two yuan.]
So tired.
Once I get out, I’ll become a Fortune-Telling Streamer too. Fast money.
I spent another thousand yuan to get out.
Shan Yuan: “There’s only one Zookeeper.
“There are two ways out. Choose the southern one.
“I made a mistake in one Divination Sign.”
Me: “?”
My brain can’t keep up.
[My head hurts. Am I growing a brain?]
[Live crowdfunding for a brain, it’s urgent, I can’t figure out the rules either.]
I said, “Can I get a refund for the wrong Divination Sign?”
Junior Brother: “Dear, that’s not possible.”
“I forced a refund through customer service.”
Junior Brother: “Divination Signs are virtual goods. Once sold, they’re non-refundable.”
I played the rogue, “There’s a minor in my family.”
[Is Minor Refund supposed to be used like this? Haha… hahaha…]
[Using a bit of roguishness to deal with some roguishness.]
Shan Yuan: “…”
Junior Brother gritted his teeth, “Fine, I’ll refund you.”
I looked at the message on my phone: [Refund successful, item: ‘I made a mistake in one Divination Sign.’]
Sneaky, so sneaky.
Turns out that was the wrong Divination Sign.
I transferred the money back: [I’m returning the free one.]
[Conscientious, truly conscientious.]
With a clear goal, I headed straight for the southern path.
Midway, the Zookeeper appeared.
He had keys hanging from his waist and a bunch of bananas in his hand. His face was bluish, devoid of any vitality:
“That road is under maintenance. Please go east.”
I ignored him and kept walking forward.
Blood started seeping from the corners of his mouth, his throat gurgling, “Why won’t you listen to me! Why!”
The foot I’d stepped out with retreated.
I turned back, bowing to him as I did, “Sorry, I’ll listen to you, I’ll do as you say.”
He was satisfied.
Humming a tune, he swung his keys and continued his patrol.
[Big points for the pushover group.]
[This isn’t being a pushover, this is emotional intelligence.]
His bleeding appearance was too terrifying; I was afraid he’d kill me on the spot.
There was also a Zookeeper in the Elephant Enclosure.
He was feeding the elephants.
While feeding, he hummed a song, “Elephant, elephant, why is your trunk so long?”
The tune sounded very familiar.
As I passed by, it looked up at me, its gaze clear:
“Big sister, do you like eating green peppers?”
I shook my head, “Not really.”
It got excited, “I don’t like them either.”
[He looks so familiar, haha… hahaha…]
[I get it, I know who you mean.]
I chatted with him for quite a while as if there were no elephants around.
I said, “I’m leaving now.”
It patted the dust off itself and said it would walk me out.
“I want to take the southern road.”
It looked troubled, “The southern road won’t do, someone’s watching it.”
I said, “Tell him not to watch.”
“He’s fierce, I don’t dare say anything.”
We looked at each other, speechless and choked up.
I opened my phone again.
“Daoist, do you have any ideas?”
Junior Brother rolled his eyes, “Refunded people get blocked.”
Shan Yuan pursed his lips, “Check out my Little Blue Cart.”
I browsed for a long time.
Regretfully, I picked the cheapest Immobilization Talisman.
Swaggering, I headed back to the southern road.
The bleeding Zookeeper: “You dare come back?”
I flashed the Immobilization Talisman:
“One, two, three, freeze!”
He stopped moving.
But as soon as I moved my phone away,
He’d contort his face and lunge at me.
I had no choice but to hold my phone high, walking backward, step by step, until I got out.
At the gate,
I put down my phone.
He chased after me again.
I slammed the door shut.
By inertia, he crashed into the wire fence and started struggling.
I said, “Stop coming out and scaring people.”
