Chapter 1: Reborn at 300 Jin, but at Least I Have a System
Li Hang sat on a bench outside the campus convenience store, feeling as though ten thousand alpacas had stampeded through his mind. Muddy hooves and all. Right across his heart.
He’d gone to sleep in his dorm just fine. Then he’d opened his eyes, and the whole world had changed.
In his previous life, he’d been a young college student standing 183 centimeters tall. Maybe he hadn’t been a movie star, but girls on campus had given him second looks, and the cafeteria ladies had slipped him an extra scoop of food.
Now? Li Hang looked down at himself.
His belly bulged out like an inflated hot-air balloon, almost as big as the famous mukbang streamer Liangzi’s. His arms were thicker than most people’s thighs, and his legs rubbed together when he walked. The backs of his hands were padded with fat, and his fingers looked like five little sausages.
Worst of all, this body came with its own smell. In weather this hot, a man weighing 300 jin—150 kilograms—sweated even when he stood still. Move an inch, and he looked as though he’d been pulled from a river.
Li Hang lifted an arm and took a sniff. He nearly passed out.
How could he describe it? Something had fermented a little too long.
He swallowed his complicated feelings, unscrewed the bottle of water he’d just bought, and took a drink. The cool water finally eased some of the heat rising from his stomach.
People streamed past the store, and he could feel their eyes on him: curious, surprised, disgusted, sympathetic, and some looks too complicated to name.
“That guy’s huge. He must weigh over two hundred jin.”
“Two hundred? Are you blind? Three hundred, minimum.”
“Almost as big as Liangzi, right?”
“Not quite. Liangzi has a freakishly big stomach. This guy looks about 175 centimeters tall, so his belly doesn’t stand out quite as much.”
Li Hang’s mouth twitched. Whether he liked it or not, there was no refund button for transmigration. Besides, they weren’t wrong. A body like this would turn heads anywhere.
[Ding! A passerby is shocked.]

…
The alerts rang one after another like a barrage of phone notifications. Li Hang froze for a moment, then caught on.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have acquired the Weight-Loss Shock System.]
[For every jin the Host loses, you may exchange it directly for 100 million yuan in Huaxia currency.
Shock Points can also be exchanged for attributes such as intelligence and looks, or for treasure chests containing rewards such as a divine singing voice, unparalleled beauty, supreme intelligence, and advanced technology…]
[Bronze Treasure Chests are currently available for 500 Shock Points each.]
[Keep up the weight loss, Host!]
Li Hang stared for three seconds.
“Ha ha ha!” He burst out laughing and threw himself back against the bench.
Startled by the sudden laughter, passersby glanced over, whispering as they hurried away.
“Is that guy okay?”
“No idea. Maybe the heat’s gotten to him?”
“Don’t look. Come on, let’s go. If something happens, he might blame us.”
Li Hang couldn’t have cared less. He patted his belly, eyes shining like a man who hadn’t eaten in three days looking at a feast.
This wasn’t fat. It was a walking gold mine!
One hundred million for every jin he lost, and he had at least a hundred jin to spare. If he lost it all, he’d be worth ten billion!
And then there were the Shock Points. People were shocked just by watching him walk. Earning those was easier than finding money on the street. One stroll around town would have everyone turning their heads and the points rolling in.
He took another happy swig of water. Suddenly, life looked promising. Even his bulky body seemed easier on the eyes.
He wasn’t fat. He was sitting on a substantial reserve of capital.
The midday sun blazed overhead as though it had a personal grudge, baking the asphalt until it seemed to soften. The eight-hundred-meter walk back to the dorm took Li Hang more than ten minutes. Every step felt uphill, and his legs were as heavy as lead.
Halfway there, he was gasping, his chest tight and his temples pounding. Sweat ran down his cheeks and dripped onto the ground, where it evaporated almost at once.
At the dorm building, he leaned against a wall for a long while, gulping air. He looked up at the building. Magic City University, a Project 211 school. The body’s original owner had done pretty well academically. That was the one thing that cheered Li Hang up.
His room was 304. Third floor.
Third floor.
He took a deep breath and started climbing. By the turn on the second floor, his lungs felt ready to burst. By the time he reached the third-floor corridor, stars were dancing before his eyes.
He pushed open the door to Room 304 and collapsed onto a chair by the entrance, panting like an old dog after a marathon, his chest heaving like a bellows.
Once he’d caught his breath, he looked around. It was a spacious four-person room, with loft beds over desks and a private bathroom. By university standards, it was pretty nice.
But the original owner’s desk and bed…
One look sent Li Hang’s blood pressure soaring. Takeout boxes, plastic bags, and used tissues covered the desk. Clothes lay in crumpled heaps on the chair and bed. It looked like a recycling dump. Several unopened packages were stacked in the corner, and snack wrappers littered the floor.
The other three spaces, at least, were tidy. One had sheets and bedding that looked expensive, branded clothes on the desk, and luxury luggage.
“Rich guy,” Li Hang muttered.
None of his three roommates was around. They’d probably gone to eat. He understood why they hadn’t invited the original owner. Honestly, in their place, he wouldn’t have either. At 300 jin, who wanted the responsibility if something happened to him on the way?
And given his hygiene, it was a wonder anyone would want to walk beside him at all.
Still, cleanliness had nothing to do with weight. When you shared a room, turning it into a pigsty would bother the others, even if they kept quiet about it.
Li Hang rolled up his sleeves and started cleaning.
