Summary
In my sophomore year, I rented a place off campus.
A man lived next door.
Every day he’d cradle his phone and talk for hours with his girlfriend.
Clingy. Controlling.
I had never seen his face, but I thought the less of him for it.
Until the day his phone broke and he knocked on my door.
“Could I borrow your phone? I need to call my girlfriend and check in.”
I opened the door.
And there, standing in the hallway, was the cold, untouchable guy I had secretly loved.
